Obituary of Elizabeth Orr (Burchell)
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Beth Orr on March 3, 2025, at Kingston General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 70. Born in Brockville, Ontario on November 29, 1954, daughter of the late George and Shirley Burchell.
Loving wife and best friend of David Orr for 48 years and cherished mother of Jonathan Orr (Scarlett) and Kevin Orr. Sadly missed by her grandchildren James, Lauren, Olivia, Jules and Lucie. Dear sister of Catherine Luey and Douglas Burchell, sister-in-law of Douglas Orr (Pamela), John Orr (Linda) and the late Patricia Steacy (Douglas). Also lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews and their families.
Following her graduation from Brockville Regional School of Nursing, Beth became a dedicated RN at Kingston General Hospital for almost 40 years. Beth had an adventurous spirit and found joy in the great outdoors. She was an avid kayaker, hiker, canoeist and cross country skier, often found paddling on the waters of Charleston Lake or exploring the beautiful landscapes across the world, where she created lifelong memories with family and friends. Whether leading backcountry camping trips or kayaking the rapids of the Ottawa River, she embraced every journey with curiosity and enthusiasm. Travel was a passion she shared with David, family, and friends, always seeking new experiences and connections along the way.
Beth’s warmth, kindness, and adventurous soul touched many, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A celebration of Beth’s life will be held on May 4th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area (1641 Perth Road, Glenburnie).
Beth’s life was one of love, adventure, and deep connections. Her spirit will forever remain on the water, under the stars, and in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Arrangements entrusted to Payne Funeral Home in Odessa. Please share your memories and condolences to the family.
