My condolences to the family!
Jerry and I went to college together, he was a friend to everyone and fun to be around. We ran into each other over the years and for the past several years we met up at bird auctions and discussed what kind of birds we had and what we were going to get next! We text or called each other weekly if not daily this past while! He was my bird buddy, I miss him tremendously! I hope they have “death layers” in heaven for you!
Miss you!

To Jerry’s family,
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Jerry was truly one of a kind. He took care of my mom for 10 months, and in that time, she absolutely loved him. She always felt safe, comfortable, and even managed to laugh—thanks to Jerry and Andy.
I’ll never be able to thank him enough for the way he cared for her in those last months. It means more to me than words can say.
Rest easy, Jerry. I have no doubt my mom was there, waiting with a smile, to welcome you.

I knew Jerry for 34 years as a coworker at KHSC. He was one of the first people I worked with as a nurse and later on Connell 4 Psychiatry and later when it was on Burr 4 .He was a very supportive coworker and was often was the first to go to a crisis even if it wasn’t his patient. His humour was memorable as he loved a laugh and joke around. Jerry you will be missed greatly by many people and coworkers. Rest easy Jerry( Jer Bear)

Sending my heartfelt condolences to Jerry’s family, friends and many co-workers.
I worked with Jerry throughout the pandemic at Beechgrove where he was a member of the nursing staff. He was wonderful with the children, the vulnerable clients and the older adults who came for testing and vaccines. He made the staff laugh with his crusty curmudgeon persona because we all knew he had a heart of gold. One special memory is of Jerry FaceTiming from Carveth to Beechgrove to support a scared five year old “regular” who wanted JerBear to do his test.
Jerry brought laughter, wisdom, nursing skills and several pug babies to Beechgrove for us to cuddle. I can’t imagine how we would have gotten through Covid without him. There is a big hole in our world right now. Rest easy Jerry. We hope there are pugs in Heaven.

Sending my heartfelt condolences to Jerry’s family, friends, and colleagues.
I met Jerry at SLC and we shared so many laughs over the years. Although we lost touch after graduation, we’d occasionally bump into each other—and each time, it felt like no time had passed at all.
In more recent years, I discovered that Jerry was next-door neighbours with my good friends Jen, Joel, and Brooklyn. Brooklyn loved him dearly. Jerry would sometimes join us at the Creekside for fish and chips, and those nights were always filled with laughter.
Goodbye, old friend. I’m so grateful we were able to reconnect and laugh like we did in the old days.
May you rest in peace.
Love,
Jan

Jerry was a true gem. I worked with him on Burr 4. He had the best snacks and was so good with the patients. I remember when he won the Caregiver Award for KHSC and we all cheered him on. He is way too young. He will be missed so much.

I had the pleasure of consolidating on BURR 4 in the Fall of 2024. I was continuously in awe of Jerry's ability to develop quick and profound connections with his patients, often returning home and detailing to my family how wonderful it was to hear someone with such strong therapeutic communication skills. At the nurses' station, Jerry was a riot. He developed those same beautiful connections with staff, always there to drop a funny line or share a kind word. He was patient, steadfast, and unapologetically himself. I am so deeply saddened for his family, friends, and patients alike. Rest well, Jerry, you certainly left a beautiful impression in this world.

Jerry helped train me as a student 35 years ago
His dark humour and softness always struck a cord from the start
We had so much fun on Bawden and Connell 4
He would prank call me at the nursing station ,and roast me constantly about anything and everything. Those who knew him well can attest to his beautiful heart . As a nurse he was on top of things and if there was any emergency he was a blessing to be on shift with.
We had many outings back in the day and numerous laughs which I fear to mention .
We’ve lost another nurse with wings not all nurses have them but he did. Patients were loved and protected
In the last six months I reached out to him a few times for his support with a loved one .
He was there and did his very best to help . I will never forget the strong , loving , funny friend I gained .
His love for animals was above and beyond as well
Jerry you were one of a kind , one who stood out amongst the rest
I’m forever grateful to have connected with you in this big old world
Cheers to the many great times
Love and miss you already ❤️
