Obituary of Peter Alan Hayes

Pete passed away peacefully at the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital on Sunday, August 17, 2025 after a courageous four year battle with cancer. He was 69. He will be lovingly remembered by his fiancée and best friend Louise McKee, and children Jennifer O’Neil (Cody), Kayla Vanderwey and Mark Hayes (Maggie). Beloved “Peepaw” to Lauralyn, Cale, Hallie, Reid and Robyn. Predeceased by his dear parents Herb and Peggy Hayes and brother Tom Hayes. Pete will be fondly remembered by his former co-workers at Provincial Corrections, Greater Napanee and Stone Mills Fire Departments, and Martin’s Bus Service Ltd.

The family will receive friends at Payne Funeral Home in Odessa on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 1-3 pm and 5-8 pm. A private family Service will be held at a later date with Interment at Morven Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial donations to the Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Napanee and District Rod & Gun Club would be appreciated by the family.
