Obituary of Joan Dickerson (VanKoughnet)

It is with sadness that Joan’s family announce her passing at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KGH) on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in her 82^nd year. Dearly loved wife of Dean Dickerson for 59 years. Caring mother of Deborah Turcotte (Barry), Troy (Michelle), Darrell (Stephanie) and Kevin (Christina Wales). Deeply missed by her grandchildren Kristine (Carter), Megan, Corey, Miranda (Luke), Hunter (Hilary), Tate, Ruby and Gina. Also deeply missed by her 7 great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Vivian and Jim VanKoughnet of Selby. Dear sister of Gordon (Sadie) VanKoughnet, Trevor (late Ester) VanKoughnet, Ralph (Anne) VanKoughnet and the late Verna VanKoughnet. Joan was also a loving aunt and friend to many. She will be deeply missed.

 

Cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. For those desiring, memorial donations to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) would be appreciated by the family, in recognition of the compassionate care Joan received from Doctors, Nurses and volunteers of the Intensive Care Unit at KGH.
