After 54 years of marriage and surrounded by family and friends, Barbara Ann Smith (née Gaylord) and Wayne Murray Smith passed away peacefully while holding hands at the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Dear and loving parents of John (Lori Whitty), Clinton, Patricia and the late James Smith. Proud grandparents of Teigan, Brock, Emma, Brieanne, Alex and the late Emily. Barb is predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Gordon Gaylord, and by her brother Clarke Gaylord (late wife Nancy). She is survived by her sisters Diane Tryon (late husband Harold Tryon and late husband Clarence Gregg) and Judy McClure (husband Andrew, and late husband Wally Paddick). Wayne is predeceased by his parents Olive and Willie Smith and by his brother Ernie Smith. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews and extended family members. Barb and Wayne enjoyed many years working together at L&A Hospital, Barb, as a RN and Wayne, as a custodian. Their love story continues, together forever.

A Celebration of their Lives will be held at Payne Funeral Home in Odessa on Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 12 – 3 pm., short words of remembrance will be spoken at 1:30 pm. A private family Graveside Service will be held at a later date.

In their memory, donations to the L&A Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Please share your memories and condolences to the family.
