Obituary of Robert Leadbetter
Bob Leadbetter passed away gently in his sleep on the evening of September 25, 2025 at the John M. Parrott Centre in Napanee, at the age of 83. He was surrounded by the loving and caring staff there that he had grown to appreciate and love over his 16 months there.
Bob was born May 16, 1942 in Truro, Nova Scotia – the beloved and mischievous son of Robert Leadbetter and Marion MacKenzie. At age 16, Bob and two friends traveled to Kingston, Ontario to join the then Boy Soldiers of the Canadian Army. This began his love for the Kingston area. He spent 12 years in the Signals Corp., and then he moved onto civilian life. Bob shunted freight trailers in the Kingston Alcan yards for Years, and then he started hauling freight over the highways. For many years he owned his own tandem truck, hauling asphalt all over the Kingston area.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Gillian (Sangster), his daughter Karen in Boston (from his first marriage to Carol Corbett), and his granddaughter Robyn in Cape Coral, Florida. Bob was predeceased in 2025 by his daughter Cathy (Bobbie) Leadbetter from Boston. On Gill’s side Bob is survived by his step daughter Leslie Lewis and her husband Kevin Holden, his granddaughter Liz Lewis, his grandson Brandon Lewis and his wife Cassie, and great grandchildren Isla and Luna.
Cremation has taken place. A private family Interment will be held in Nova Scotia at a later date. For those desiring, memorial donations to a charity of choice will be remembered with appreciation by the family.
Please share your memories and condolences to the family.
