Obituary of Clayton McEwen
(Former Reeve of Loyalist Township and Former Warden of L&A County)
The family of Clayton Donald McEwen are saddened to announce his sudden but peaceful passing at home in Amherstview on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in his 82nd year. Son of the late Donald and O’Della. Loving husband to Harlene (née Raby) for 58 years and proud father of Mark (Angela), Michelle and Scott. Cherished Poppa of Robert (Emily), Andrew, Seanna, Addison, Dylan, Kyla and Taedyn. Clayton is survived by siblings Marilyn, Donna, Della (David), Elizabeth and Leo (Melanie), sister in law Angela (Andrew), and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings Bob (Linda), Roy (Victoria) and Linda (Bill).
Clayton had an intense love of family which led to his involvement in community sports; coaching, umpiring and convening. This love for his community led to a second career in politics to improve the lives of neighbours and anyone in the Loyalist (Ernestown) community.
The family will receive friends at Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa on Tuesday, October 28th from 1-3 and 6-8 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Emmanuel United Church, 63 Factory St., Odessa on Wednesday, October 29th at 11 am. A reception will follow.
For those desiring, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada will be remembered with appreciation by the family. In memory of Clayton, feel free to wear Montreal Canadiens or Toronto Blue Jays paraphernalia.
Please share your memories and condolences to the family.
