Obituary of Roger Dainard

Roger Obediah Dainard was born on March 16, 1986, in Victoria, BC. He moved with his family to Amherstview, Ontario in 1999 where he attended Fairfield Elementary School. Following his graduation from Ernestown Secondary School in Odessa, Roger studied Culinary Management at St. Lawrence College in Kingston. He worked in numerous restaurants and catering in Kingston over the years and enjoyed every minute of it. He was a gentle soul that loved walks in nature with all of his Jack Russell Terriers - Sam, Spot, Spike and Baxter. He also loved gardening and would spend hours daily in the spring and summer tending to his gardens, and just enjoying the outdoors. Many fond memories were also made while fishing with his Dad and cooking for his family. Roger was the unofficial Jeopardy champion of the family, even if he was otherwise occupied, he would correctly answer questions from another room, always taking us by surprise, regardless of the subject.

 

Roger was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in late August of this year. He remained brave and stoic, never complaining. With the disease overwhelming Roger, he passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025. He will be sorely missed by his grieving parents, Fred and Helen Dainard of Amherstview, his sister Chantel Johnston of Napanee, and by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends across the country, from BC, Alberta, Ontario and New Brunswick. Rest in Peace Roger, we will never forget your kindness and love for everyone.

 

Cremation has taken place with a private family gathering being held at a later date. For those desiring, memorial donations to a charity of choice in his memory will be remembered with appreciation by the family.
