Obituary of Yvonne Marie Mercer (Kimmett)

Passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the age of 78. She was surrounded by love and comfort from her family in her final days. Born on April 9, 1947, in Toronto, Ontario, and a long-time resident of Yarker, Ontario. Yvonne was the beloved daughter of the late Theresa (née Prevost) and Albert Kimmett, and stepfather, Gordon “Poppy” Garrison.

Yvonne will be forever missed by her devoted husband of 58 years, Thomas John Mercer; her sons, Tom Mercer (Barb) and Eric Mercer (Emma); and her cherished granddaughter, Lauren Mercer. She is also survived by her siblings, Brian Kimmett (Michele), Marlene Brooks (Doug), and Cheryl Alkenbrack (Donald); her brothers-in-law, Bob Mercer (Lori) and Melvyn Mercer (Ginette); as well as her nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.

Yvonne dedicated over 40 years of her career as a medical secretary with KGH and Queen’s University. She found joy in classic country music, golfing, travelling with her husband and siblings, tending to her flower beds, and enjoying a good cup of tea. Above all, she deeply loved and cared for those around her.

Visitation will take place at Payne Funeral Home in Odessa on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In place of flowers, donations in Yvonne’s memory may be made to the John M. Parrott Centre in Napanee through Payne Funeral Home.
