Dear Victor and Alan and Bob's family,
I'm deeply sorry to discover that Bob has passed away and am truly sorry for you loss. In the few years that I got to know him, he was a kind and generous man.
I met Bob in 2018 when he offered to rent me a room in his large Barriefield house on an as-needed basis while I completed my PhD at RMC. Between 2018 and 2021, I would come weekly on the train from Montreal and spend 2 nights each week while attending classes. Bob was always welcoming, and shared some great stories from his past, and his keen observations on current political events, on which he was well-read. I always enjoyed our conversations in the kitchen, or by the fireplace in the next room. When I moved up to Chelsea, QC, we would talk about skiing or canoeing in Gatineau Park. I gathered he was enthusiastic for both over his life.
I was aware of his declining health in recent years, and kept in touch by email on occasion. He remained stoic and pragmatic despite the challenging path he was on. A brave man to the end. He will be missed.
Sincerely,
Cameron Ross
