Obituary of Ruth Fiddes (Brown)
In profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ruth Pauline Fiddes of Napanee, who left this world gently at the John M. Parrott Centre on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in her 100th year, surrounded by those who loved her.
Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Fiddes; a loving sister of the late Bob Brown (Irene), Bill Brown (Joanne), and Jack Brown (Gwynne); and a wholehearted mother of Bill “Ernie” Fiddes (Bonny) and Bob Fiddes (Susan). She was a loving grandmother to Stacie Burgess (Jay), Kelly Fiddes (Shelley), and Brett Fiddes (Brooke).
Ruth was a loving and proud great-grandmother to Maddy and Jake Burgess, Kobey Baldwin, and Brynleigh, Blaire, and Briggs Fiddes.
She was predeceased by her parents, Wilford and Adia Brown. Ruth will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Nothing in this world meant more to her than her grandchildren — they were her pride, her joy, her whole heart walking outside her body. Ruth was a devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, and she loved curling and hockey just as fiercely. Some of the sweetest memories were of her grandchildren dancing on top of the stereo, music playing, while she and the late Ralph’s laughter filled the room.
As her family grew, her heart simply made more room for her great-grandchildren. Ruth could often be found at the hockey arena or at horse shows, proudly cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will forever be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her famous shortbread cookies, and the homemade canned goods she lovingly prepared for those she loved.
A family Graveside Service will be held at Newburgh Cemetery at a later date. For those desiring, memorial donations to the John M. Parrott Centre will be remembered with appreciation by the family.
Please share your memories and condolences to the family.
