Obituary of René Hébert

Please share a memory of René to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of René Joseph Émile Hébert, who was born in Québec, and passed away on March 15, 2026, at the age of 84, at Brampton Civic Hospital, surrounded by his family.

René was a man of steady strength, principle, and unwavering dedication. He served his country with pride in the Canadian Armed Forces and spent much of his career in the corrections system, including his time at the Prison for Women (P4W) in Kingston and other institutions. Colleagues remember him for his integrity, professionalism, and steadfast commitment.

René had a remarkable talent for working with his hands. Whether building or woodworking, he approached every project with care, precision, and quiet pride. His creations reflected the diligence and attention to detail he valued, bringing him satisfaction and joy.

René’s family was the center of his heart. He was predeceased by his beloved spouse, Jocelyn Prévost Hébert; his parents, Victor Hébert and Cécile Foster; his stepmother, Marie-Ange Patry; and his father- and mother-in-law, Jean-Baptiste Prévost and Berthe Defoy. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Nathalie Hébert Collins (Jeff Robertson) and Lisa Hébert Kirkland (Gord Kirkland); his grandchildren Amanda Irvine, Joshua Collins (Grace Masell), Tara Collins (Martin Saunders), and Emma Kirkland; his sisters Dométile Hébert (Guy Maltais), Françoise Hébert (Guy Gauthier, deceased), and Guiselaine Boily (Robin Daigle); his brother-in-law Jean Prévost and sister-in-law Micheline Martel; and his cherished nieces and nephews Guylaine, Marie-Josée, Jean, Renée, Nancy, Annie P., Lucie, Annie D., Mélanie, and Luc.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens, Glenburnie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated in memory of René.

Memories, stories, and condolences may be shared with the family on this tribute wall.

René will be remembered not for the noise he made, but for the enduring strength, integrity, and craftsmanship he quietly embodied. He took pride in a job well done and a life lived with purpose.
