Obituary of David Charles Reid

Born on December 23, 1947, and most recently calling Kingston/Amherstview home, Dave passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, having finally decided it was time to put his darts down and take a well‑earned rest. He leaves behind his loving wife of 31 years, Linda, the love of his life, with whom he shared years of laughter and gentle teasing, including on the morning he passed, and who cared for him with unwavering love in his final days. Dave is also survived by his children Geoff (Margaret), Mike (Sylvie), Carrie, and Kimberly (Derek), and by his many grandchildren, step‑grandchildren, and great‑grandchild, who knew him best as “Papa Dave.” He will also be deeply missed by his siblings Laura “Lolly” (Steve), Joey (Lorrie), Kevin (Doris), and Brad (Heather).

A loyal fan of the New York Giants, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dave could regularly be found providing enthusiastic “coaching” to the players and referees from the comfort of his living room. When there wasn’t a game on, he turned to darts, where he loved stepping up to the oche and nailing his trusty Double 10.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the team at Ontario Health at Home for the nurses and caregivers who cared for Dave with kindness and compassion in his final days.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Dave’s honour on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 1-4 pm at Payne Funeral Home in Odessa. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honour Dave by cheering on the Giants, the Jays, or the Leafs (even when they make it difficult), sharing a good story, and enjoying a laugh with the people you love - just as he always did.
