Obituary of Mary Lou Fraser (Ponton)

Please share a memory of Mary Lou to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary Lou Fraser passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre, in her 90th year. Predeceased by her loving husband and best friend Lee Fraser and son Robert. Sadly missed by her son Jeff and his wife Karlee, daughters Kim and Christina, and many grandchildren.

Daughter of the late Stephen and Bessie Ponton, Mary Lou was born in Windsor, Ontario and raised in London, Ontario. She enjoyed directing and singing in choirs, gardening, milking her Ayrshire cows and riding her horse. Farm life suited her well and many wonderful memories were made at the family farm in Moscow. Mary Lou was also a dedicated teacher. Early in her career she taught in London, later teaching in Elginburg. She will be greatly missed by her family, her church family, and dear friends.

The family will receive friends at Moscow United Church (25 Huffman Road, Moscow) on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 1-2 pm., with Words of Remembrance beginning at 2 pm. A reception will follow at the Friends Meeting House. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Gananoque & District Humane Society where she adopted Ginger, her beloved cat.

Arrangements entrusted to Payne Funeral Home in Odessa. Please share your memories and condolences to the family on this tribute wall.
