Carol Glenn (Miller)

Obituary of Carol Glenn (Miller)

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carol passed peacefully in the early hours of July 16, 2026, with loved ones at her side. She is predeceased by daughters Cheryl and Annette and will be deeply missed by her husband of 66 years, Paul Glenn, her sister Sandra (Glenn) and brother Donald (Judy) along with son John (Maureen). Grandchildren Shawna, Les (Samantha), Mitch, Torri (Ben) and Mallory (Vaibhav) and great grandchildren Hailey, Caiden, Evelyn, Macie, Brooklyn, Opal and August will miss their beloved Nan dearly. Carol’s entire extended family will forever miss her and remember her fondly.

Carol’s life was one well lived. Born December 22, 1943, at Kingston General Hospital, Carol grew up attending school and working on the family farm on Amherst Island. She met Paul Glenn and they married July 1, 1960, and soon welcomed daughter Annette followed by Cheryl and John. Carol spent many years as part of the Girl Guides of Canada organization both working and volunteering. She spent time as a National Trainer for the organization and also ran a Girl Guide store with her good friend Ann in Sudbury. Her passion for Guides would later span 4 generations of daughters, granddaughters and great granddaughters who went on to participate in Guiding.

Family was everything to Carol, whose famous kitchen table would grow every year to accommodate new family members and share a special meal together. Her door was always open and there was somehow always room for more.

Second to Carol’s family was her community. Whether through Girl Guides, one of the many committees she volunteered for, or her beloved congregation at St. Paul’s, giving back to the community at large, but also the Island community specifically, was so important to Carol. She will be fondly remembered for her leadership, kindness and unwavering commitment to serving others.

No funeral will be held at Carol’s request. There will be a graveside service for family, friends and community at Glenwood Cemetery, Amherst Island on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 1 pm., followed by a celebration of life at her son John’s residence, 6880 Front Road. Dress code is informal. Those wishing to make memorial donations in Carol’s honour, directing them to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church on Amherst Island is most appreciated by the family.

Arrangements entrusted to Payne Funeral Home in Odessa. Please share your memories and condolences to the family on this tribute wall.
