My mom, Bonnie Bowen, worked with Shirley and I did too as a student. She was a firecracker! Her laughter was the best and your obituary for her is amazing. I still remember how much she spoke about Jade with such love. My mom also passed away, two days prior to Shirley. They are sure to be laughing together again! Much love to her whole beautiful family ❤️

The Westport Girls baseball team. This was the year the girls all came to my house in Kitchener. We had many fun filled get togethers.

Growing up in Westport, I knew both Shirley and Don, such wonderful people. When we were young, the Menzies family lived across the street from the Thake family on Mill Street. With both of our families being larger, we had lots of friends to play with and hang out with. Later on, they moved downtown. The Whitmarsh family lived next to the Westport Public School. My husband Jim and I both worked for DuPont in Kingston so we had the opportunity to see Don on occasion. They built a great family together and we send our heartfelt condolences to each of their family members during this very sad and difficult time. Cherish your wonderful memories.

I have many fond memories of Shirley, who became a cherished friend and companion to my dad, Doug Lewis, in their later years. Winters in Fort Myers are full of memories of the whole gang, especially with Shirley going for her daily walks, shopping at Bealls and Kohls, and evenings spent first at Happy Hour and then watching Jeopardy and WOF. She was always there with a smile and a laugh. She will be dearly missed. My deepest heartfelt condolences to the family.

Shirley definitely was a spitfire. She would come into the shop, and everyone would be talking to her before you knew it. The energy she had was unreal. When she walked by the shop, she always waved. I miss that and Shirley's great personality. R.I.P. Shirley. They're going to know when you arrive.
