Obituary of Lori Goulah (Wallace)

After a long fight with Parkinsons Plus MSA (Multiple Systems Atrophy), Patricia Lorraine “Lori” Goulah (nèe Wallace), passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the age of 72. Lori was born in Newmarket, Ontario, the 2nd of 3 children; brothers Robert and John.

In May of 1970 at age 16, she met Murray, the boy who would become her husband in ‘73, and the true love of her life, with whom she would celebrate over 53 amazing and loving years of marriage together. Lori is predeceased by her parents Bob and Olive and her brother John. Lori is survived by her husband Murray; brother Rob; son Patrick (Kerry); son David Levi (Betty); daughter Bryanne (Liam); grandchildren: Heidi; Gryhon; Tim (Jade); Owen; Logan; Wyatt; Lilly; Paige; Abby; Tessa; Nella; and Chloe; and great-grandchildren; Hudson and Lakelyn, plus numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished friends (you know who you are!)

Lori inherited the family trait of wanderlust; hitchhiking as a teenager to later moving across the country with Murray in Renfrew, Pembroke, St. Catharines, Melfort SK, Campbell River BC, Melville SK, to finally putting down roots in Enterprise ON. Lori dedicated her life to others graduating as an RNA in 1973 and worked caring for people as a Healthcare Aid/PSW in each of those cities. After retiring from healthcare, she missed people, so she went back to work at Benson’s delivering auto-parts to the many garages in the area.

A constant sports and outdoor enthusiast, Lori did track & field, field hockey, and cheerleading in high school, enjoyed rolling skating, competed in arm-wrestling, baseball, broomball, played flag football while also teaching power-skating, Beavers, Cubs & Scouts where she loved to kayak, cycle, hike, camp and take her children to hockey and various other sports. She had her motorcycle license and drove over 20 years including cross-country trips from Ontario to Newfoundland, Saskatchewan and throughout the USA (BT).

Being curious and a lifelong learner, Lori was an avid reader regularly reading 3-5 novels per week, her children’s comic books, the newspaper, every genre of literature, textbooks, and nutritional facts on cereal boxes. She enjoyed lively discussions with others having different points of view and theology, learning of other cultures, plus traveling for the immersive and educational experience.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the numerous care providers at the John M. Parrott Centre in Napanee, who assisted her throughout the last part of her journey - your gentle compassion and kindness will be forever cherished.

The celebration of Lori's life will be held at the Enterprise Community Hall, 2 Prince St., Enterprise on Sunday, August 30th from 1 – 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favourite cause be it monetary or lending your time and skills, performing a good deed or simply saying “Thank You” to others would be the most suitable ways to honour Lori’s memory.
