DaCOSTA: Ezequiel Cordeiro October 13, 1933 – July 16, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ezequiel (Zeke) DaCosta on Thursday, July 16th, 2015. Loving husband of Maria Dos Anjos for 56 years. Beloved father to George (Angela), Ana (Joe Garofalo) and son-in-law Robert Laird. Incredibly proud grandpa of Tabitha, Brittany (Shane), Hayley, Tanner, Brady (Ainslie), Jeremy, Noah, Joanna and Leah. Brother of Maria (the late Silvino), Norbina (the late Joao), Jose Augusto (Fatima), Antonio (Fatima), Fernanda (Joaquin), Edward (Zita and the late Lourdes). Ezequiel was born on October 13, 1933 in the village of Lomba da Maia, Sao Miguel, Azores to Jose DaCosta and Maria Bonito Cordeiro. He immigrated to Canada in 1956 and eventually made his home in Odessa. Ezequiel had various jobs in Canada including many years as a chef at the Kingston Psychiatric Hospital but he took most pleasure in the years he spent as a bus driver where he was known and loved by all as ‘Zeke the bus driver’. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Zeke had a passion for singing and entertaining. He also loved spending time on his farm and in his garden. He was a simple kind of man who loved his family and nature. He would spend countless hours with his beautiful and dedicated wife Maria just sitting and enjoying it all. Zeke’s smiles and stories will always be remembered. His family would like to thank his doctors Dr. Connidis and Dr. Tan along with his nurses and many personal care workers who lovingly cared for him and made it possible for him to stay in his home that he loved for as long as possible. We would also like to thank all the nurses at St. Mary’s of the Lake palliative care unit. The family will receive friends at the PAUL G. PAYNE FUNERAL HOME, MAIN ST. ODESSA 613-386-7373 on Sunday the 19th from 6 – 9pm. A small service will be held on Monday at 11am in the funeral home with interment to follow in Wilton Cemetery.
