Obituary of Karl Robert Gray

Born March 22, 1938 in Selby, Ontario, passed away peacefully at Rideaucrest Home in Kingston on Monday, February 26, 2024. Beloved husband of Donna Gayle Gray (née Creighton) for 61 years. Karl was the dear father of the late Terry Karl Gray and Kellianne Gray. He will be deeply missed by grandchildren Dexter Hughson (Loryanne) and Anna Hughson. Karl will be fondly remembered by Bruce Hughson. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Muriel Gray, his sister Louise Jensen (late Knud), his brother Franklin Gray (Joan), and David Markle (Linda). He is survived by brothers-in-law Bill Creighton (late Audrey), Larry Creighton (Suzanne) and Gary Creighton. Several nephews and nieces were a special part of Karl’s life over the past several years.

Family was of paramount importance to Karl. He cared deeply about his son, daughter and grandchildren. The day Terry was officially diagnosed with ALS, Karl’s life changed. Karl was hardworking, honest, a great visitor, a devoted community worker and above all a passionate partner of Gray Farms. With a failing memory Karl spent his last years at The Waterford Retirement Residence and Rideaucrest Home. The family is extremely grateful for the compassionate care Karl received while at Rideaucrest, especially during his time in palliative care. He remained a caring, kind gentleman and he will be greatly missed.

Donations to the Alzheimer Society of KFL&A, or the L&A Hospital Foundation (MRI Project) would be appreciated in his memory.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service for Karl will be held at the Strathcona Paper Centre (16 McPherson Dr., Napanee) on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 1 pm. A Reception will follow. Interment will be held at Morven Cemetery at a later date.
