The grandfather I heard amazing stories about, his deep love and passion for the things he accomplished. I can't help but wonder how I got so lucky to be able to be called his family. Home is someplace you feel comfortable and safe with. A house may refer to just a place you live in. I live far away from my extended family, but the one word I'd use to describe my grandfather is "home." An adult I felt comfortable with was rare, but not when it came to Alex Galley. I'm grateful I chose to go see him this summer. We laughed together, joked, ate, and smiled. And I'm so forever grateful for those moments. Passion deserves deep thought, love, and care. You could always see what my grandfather was passionate about. Not many people get a fair time with their passion, but I'm glad I got to see his. My grandfather, a home, I hope you rest well. I love you.

I met Alex when he came to work at the State of Oklahoma. He became a mentor to me in the field of Security. He was also a good friend. He came out to our house after it was hit by a tornado in 2011, brought his chainsaws with him and helped clear several trees on the property. My condolences to Toni and the rest of the family.

David and I have such wonderful memories of Alex and his warmth, charm, humor, eloquence and great business sense.
It was our great fortune to meet Alex and Toni, and subsequently all the other wonderful family members, when Andrea and her daughters, Livie and Zoe, moved in across the street from us in Toronto. We always looked forward to their visits.
We also cherished our time spent in Odessa at the family “compound” where Alex would cook up a storm and, of course, the moments in the garage.
Great man, great memories and he will most definitely not be forgotten.
Our love to you all - we are so incredibly sorry for your loss.

I have so many fond memories of Alex it's hard to decide where to start. He was a best friend, fishing buddy, and like a second father to me. He welcomed me into the family with open arms and we instantly became best friends. Alex always took an interest in what we were doing and wanted updates and pictures to follow. We shared a lot of common interests such as a love of the outdoors, fishing, football and tinkering in the garage. We spent many days out on the water fishing, sharing some laughs and a beer. Our fishing trips will be some of my favorite memories. We didn't always have that much success fishing but we always had good time. I'll never forget the the night in the fishing camp we were playing cribbage, sipping a drink and laughed so hard we were tearing up. Alex will always hold a place in my heart, will be fondly remembered and never forgotten.

Daddy, A piece of my Mom, Sisters and me left that day too. I will be forever changed and broken without you, talking to you every morning driving into work, having a virtual coffee every Saturday and just simply happy you are back in Canada. The pure joy of my career, children, Randy, outdoor anything, football, my pets and I could go on & on, made me feel so loved. Your work ethic and always making guests leaving full & smiling are things I will carry forward forever. Many incredible memories I do not want to share with the world but I will share that my Dad is and always will be my rock. Wiggle your toes. I love you until the end of time. Xo

Galley Family,
Although we lived thousands of miles apart, our short visits were always memorable. I loved to watch Alex soak it all in around his grandkids and his daughter Amanda, while always being present in the moment with his very calming demeanour. My memories of Alex will never fade because they were very positive.
I recall our conversations about things in common from music such as old school jazz and country music where we both introduced each other to new listening material. He was a fan of Oscar Peterson, Miles Davis, Waylon Jennings & Chris Stapleton which tells me the man had good taste. We both loved to banter on football, NFL/NCAA, a sport very close to our hearts. FisherAL was a regular in my employers NFL pool although his knowledge in picking winning teams could be questioned. I will miss watching playoff football with him during the Christmas holidays. A bond among friends hat never goes away. Alex had fine taste in wild game meats, bourbon, red wine and beer, which always led to great conversations until we talked politics which was offside which eventually led to wagering expensive spirits in the heat of the moment.
Other fond memories of Alex were time spent together in Hawaii and throwing the pigskin in Oklahoma. He could not sit still when visiting in Alberta, so i watched him fix window panes in my garage and climbed 10 feet on a ladder to string Christmas lights in minus five celsius.
We both enjoyed the rodeo and the outdoors, being on the water in nature. I had the privilege to join my father in law fishing for one week and we had plans to do it again in the Gaspe and Alaska/Yukon. My only regret is we should of done this years ago., It was a beautiful week enjoying each others company where men can be boys. I will miss you buddy.

Our deepest sincere condolences Toni and family. I met Alex at a quilting retreat I was hosting. When he carried Toni chair, sewing machine in the venue. As I got to know Toni she told me stories about Alex. I was able to tease him. I was at their home in Odessa and Alex should me all of Toni's work. It was incredible and he was very proud of all of it. I was also fortunate to meet a couple of daughters and granddaughters. He will be missed. Take care

Q: How did you meet Alex?
A: Alex and I were classmates in Grade 5 at Kings School in Westmount, QC. We remained friends all these years and Alex was our Best Man at our wedding in 1964.
I fondly remember playing football and hockey on Saturday mornings with Alex and friends among many other activities.
Lise and I had moved to Halifax but returned to attend Toni and Alex's wedding and had visited them when they resided in Belgium.
We enjoy many pleasent memories throughout those early years which we will never forget.
Our sincere heartfelt sympathies to Toni and her family and to all those who loved Alex.

Toni, Amanda, Andrea, Pamela and Patricia and family members. Please accept my most sincere condolences in the loss of your dear husband and father. It seems like yesterday that we met in Sarnia, Ontario, but in reality it was 1989! We spent many years being good family friends, watching the children arrive and grow, sharing meals, enjoying each others' company. Alex was always pleasant, involved, kind, generous, an all round good guy. May your memories of Alex bring you all comfort in the days ahead.. Hugs to all. Bonnie, Allison and Ted
