Mike worked as a material management officer at Millhaven / Bath correctional institutions, although he retired shortly before I started in the department, his remaining colleagues always spoke highly of him. I became acquainted with Mike and Cheryl at departmental get togethers there after, where we found common ground, speaking of firearms, hunting, shooting and other good old boy stuff like that. I always admired the conviction and expertise of those conversations. The work Mike put toward helping young people and others that wanted to learn about these activities as well as time spent volunteering with the Rod and Gun club by Cheryl and himself is very inspiring.
We'll miss you Mike.
Wendy and I offer our sincerest condolences to Cheryl and family

So very sorry to learn of Mikes passing. I worked with Mike at Bath/Millhaven Stores. He was an awesome coworker, always there to lend a hand or help, was always willing to do a later escort if you couldn’t do it. He was a pleasure to work with and will be missed. RIP Mike, I’ll never forget the Navy stories you would tell.

I was in shock to hear of Mike's passing. I am so sorry for your huge loss.
I can still remember the first time I ever met Mike. I was on escorts and we were walking to the van and I saw Mike thinking oh great this is going to be a long escort. Mike had this serious take no bull look on his face until we got in to drive then he had this mischievous infectious smile on his face and introduced himself. This was one of the best escorts I had. I always hoped Mike was my driver because we had some awesome conversations. It was obviously that he did love his time in the Navy. We had many conversations about the navy as my father was also Navy.
In this difficult time remember to lean on friends and family for support.

Dear Cheryl, Samantha and family
I don't think I have enough words to express how deeply sorry I am to speak of Mike's passing. He was a gem, and a rare gem, at that. I cherish my memories of our conversations and interactions. His sense of humour coupled with his storytelling abilities made his reminisces beyond compare and I will miss them. Then there is his impact on all those young up-and-coming hunters, teaching them to understand and appreciate the responsibility that was being awarded them. His is a legacy that will live on.
Rest in Peace, Mike.

Mike is my second dad. Always willing and ready to hit the road to help me with my car forgetting I was miles and miles away, or show me over video call how to sharpen my dull knives. More than once has he saved me from eating a gray steak. He is easy to love, and easy to laugh with. I can still hear his voice clear as day. I think I always will. How lucky I am to have known him, and for him to know me. Goodnight Dadley!

Mike was an incredible man with a quick wit. To see him was to see a burly man who looked like he rode motorbikes and would be great at arm wrestling. To know him was to know he was a great big teddy bear who loved to help people and loved to tease. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with you Cheryl and his girls. Hugs.

We thourghly enjoyed Mike's summer visits to Port Elgin when he was a teenager. He was the kid from the city who always livened the place up with his adventures. In more recent years he enjoyed bringing the family up for Pumpkinfest. He was very charming and charismatic. Every body loved him. He will be thourghly missed. We send our regards to Cheryl, Aunt Nean And the rest of his family. Love from Cathy and Smitty.
