Dear Aline, Sean & Family: I did not learn of Bob's sudden passing until this past weekend (Jan.10/14). It has left me both shocked and saddened. Bob was a wonderful man. I recall vividly meeting you both in Milford for the first time shortly after you moved next door to Mom & Dad. I had no knowledge at that time what wonderful neighbours and friends you would become to Karl & Jessie and the many, many acts of kindness Bob would do for them, so generously and kindly for so many years. Mom & Dad thought so very much of Bob, and you as well Aline.
I will miss running into Bob at the grocery store to have a short visit and get caught up. Aline, I sent out a card to you that was returned in the mail to me, with address unknown. I had thought you were still in Milford, but perhaps not. I wish you comfort during this difficult time, and hope that you find some measure of peace in knowing that Bob was thought so much of by so many. My deepest condolences to you, and please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Beckie Moore.

Aunt Aline and Sean, we are so sorry for your loss. I know Uncle Bob was a good man and will be missed by so many. My earliest memory of him was of him showing love. I guess he had come to see my parents after Kristine and I had gone to bed (I was around 5). I was falling asleep, heard a noise, and looked up. There Uncle Bob was, in his police uniform, coming to wish us goodnight. We are praying for comfort for you in your bereavement.

We would like to send our sympathy to Aline and Sean I have been very saddened by the passing of a great friend, I have known Bob since I was just a kid and he moved in across the street, he was always there for us no matter what it was we needed weather be advise or just to sit and chat over coffee at the shop. I always look forward to seeing him when I would go into the shop in the morning and when we had my son there Bob was the first one to break into snacks and put Terry up to the table to sit and have a chat. I am really going to miss him and seeing his smile till we meet again Bob. Love you Always

Aline , Sean and Family,
Sean thank you for your call, I know how difficult that call was for you to make. You both have my sincerest sympathy.
Time has gone by far too quickly and unfortunately that can never be replaced!
Expressions of condolences can not explain the loss we all feel so deeply at his passing.
Bob has left a legacy of loving friendship and footprints imprinted in our memories of all we have shared, learned and laughed about through the years.
Yes someone we love has left us behind, but all he was and the happy memories we have will linger forever. Bob left us too soon and there are no do overs to replace the lost time spent without both you and Aline in my life. I lost a friend that I realised I cherished too late.
Till we meet again Bob aloha
Love always Jacqui

Aunt Aline and my awesome cousin Sean. My heart is breaking for both of you right now. I have been praying for you both all week. Although we live so far away we all love you and wish we could be closer to you - especially right now. My Uncle Bob always put a smile on my face. He was always so kind to me. He welcomed Stanford into the family without a hesitation. I always admired the way he cherished you Aunt Aline - he was very considerate and such a gentleman to you. It was nice to see. I will miss the twinkle in his eye and the boyish mischievous grin he wore. If there is anything we can do, please let us know. Love and blessings to you both.

The first time I met Sean's parents was at Christmas time; I was on my way home from visiting my parents, and I thought I would pop in, meet the parents, and hit the road back home. They welcomed me as though they had known me for years. Spoiled me with gifts, fed me a wonderful meal, and made me feel completely at home. I knew from the beginning that I was going to have the best inlaws a girl could ever hope for. It has been just over 5 years since then...Bob and Aline have always made me feel special and loved. They are some of the kindest people you could know, and I am proud to be part of their family.
My sweet Daddy Spires, I will miss you so very much. I am so sad that our extended family is no longer complete, and that our time together was cut short. You left us suddenly, and so much sooner than we ever could have expected. You will be so greatly missed but absolutely never forgotten. We talk to you and about you every day; your beautiful grandchildren, who you loved so much, will always know what a kind, caring, thoughtful, generous man their grandpa was. xxoo

Bob was a very special person who was not only my brother, he was my best friend. Bob was nine years older but the way the two of us were, we very much the same person in our views and thoughts. I was actually jealous when he married Aline 40 + years ago as I thought she was going to take my Bobby away from me, instead I gained a great sister to whom we have a very strong bond. Bobby part of me died last Thursday and will never forget getting that sad phone call, I don't think I remember the drive to Picton Hospital, so glad my husband was home. You have made a real imprint in so many lives and everyone respected you with so much love. There was only one Bob Spires and so honoured to have been your sister

Pam & I have been less fortunate than most in that we only knew Bob for the last couple of years. In that short time however we learned that Bob was a very generous person & always willing to lend a helping hand. He was one of the worlds gentlemen.( even when we played dominoes & "idiots" rummy). We shall surely miss him.... Aline, our thoughts go out to you & the family, for, "to live in the hearts you leave behind is not to die".

Lots of people have uncle Bob's, but the one I had was the best of them all.
My love for the game of baseball came largely from my uncle Bob. I can remember going to visit him and Aunt Aline in Woodstock and him bringing out stacks of Toronto Star sports sections that he had saved for me, jammed full of Blue Jays information. I'm now 33 years old, yet the countless autographed pictures of Jays players he got for me when I was a youngster still line the walls of my man-cave to this day. My wife and I are expecting twin boys shortly and I cannot wait to tell them all about Uncle Bob, and eventually pass my collection on to them.
I was always fascinated by the stories he would tell me about his time spent working undercover with the TPS. He loved his job, the people he worked with, and was proud to serve and protect the city of Toronto in various law enforcement positions over his career.
We will all miss you dearly, uncle Bob. You influenced so many people in so many ways during your 67 years here. Save me a spot on your team in the field of dreams.

We will miss him coming in for coffee everyday. He will be in our hearts forever.

I had the good fortune of having Bob as one of my Sergeants in my early days as a Constable. I think he was newly promoted at that point. That made a lasting impression and although we only smiled as our paths crossed after that brief period, I never forgot him. He was a good man.
