Obituary of Hope Glenn
Please share a memory of Hope to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Born on March 20, 1927 in Cahir, County of Tipperary, Ireland. Passed away July 15, 2016 in Yarker, Ontario. Hope lived in London, England during WWII where she met and married a Canadian soldier, Douglas Gilbert Glenn. She immigrated to Canada as a war bride and initially lived on Amherst Island where she adapted to farm life. After moving to Kingston, Hope worked in a number of interesting jobs which included working at the radio station CKLC. She was particularly proud of her administrative role in obstetrics and gynecology with Dr. James Lowe at KGH. After she and Doug retired they returned to country life in Lansdowne, ON, until his death in 1991. Hope enjoyed travelling to Algonquin Park particularly in the autumn. Her many hobbies included knitting, crocheting, painting and playing cards. She loved animals and had a unique ability to give them interesting names. She was an independent woman who enjoyed an intellectual challenge. Hope was predeceased by her beloved husband Doug (1991) and cherished grandson Dougie (2003). She is survived by her seven loving children, Jamie Glenn, Ron Glenn (Mary), Barb Glenn, Gail Lieberman (Av), Carol Lynch (Bryne), Kevin Glenn (Debbie) and Stephen Glenn (Gail), 10 grandchildren, Julie, Barb, Erin, Rebecca, Adam, Tyler, Katie, Susie, Thomas and Celia, 13 great grandchildren and sister Wendy Nicol. The family will receive friends at the PAUL G.
