Obituary of Thomas William Minard
Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Minard, Thomas W., President KSOA; It is both with sadness, and peace, that we announce the passing of Thomas William Minard. Tom passed peacefully at home in the company of family, Thursday March 3rd, 2016 at the age of 74. After a courageous, intense, and willful battle with cancer, Tom embraced joining his beloved wife Carol in peace, and encouraged others to join him in his acceptance. Loving and devoted husband of the late Carol Joan Minard, and loving father of Yvonne & Mike Young, Kim Minard, Thomas (Bill) & Angela Minard, Lois & Jason Bulch. Fiercely proud grandfather to Tom, John, Stevi, Krystal, Ryan, & Alexander. Great grandfather to Liam and predeceased by grandson, Joseph. Adopted father and grandfather to many. Son of the late Thomas (Bill) and Ester Minard and loving brother to Lois Hicke and the late John Hicke. A 30+ year employee of Du Pont Canada, a true hobbyist, (many will recall the candle and button making businesses), a lover of photography and a computer guru to many. Most recently, Tom was an active board member as President, Kingston School of Art & Window Art Gallery, drawn in by the desire to reconnect with his artistic side, only to discover he could give back to the school as much life as it had given him. For his cherished experience at the school, his family will be eternally grateful. The family will receive friends at PAUL G. PAYNE FUNERAL HOME, MAIN ST., ODESSA, for visitation Sunday March 20, 2016 from 7-9 and Mon March 21, 2016 from 10-11, service at 11 followed by reception. Internment at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens at 1pm. As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to either Kingston School of Art & Window Art Gallery or Cancer Centre South Eastern Ontario (UHKF). We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Cancer Centre at KGH and Community Palliative Care Team including Dr. Goldie, Dr. Ashworth, Dr. Mates and Dr. Kondor; the many nurses involved in his care with special mention to Nurse Janet C. (KGH) and “CheryltheNurse” (CBI); the Radiation Team (KGH); CCAC and its affiliates including VON SMILE, his PSW’s, CBI, and ParaMed. We appreciate all that you do on a daily basis. A sincere thank you to the Lumsden and Osborne families for your never ending support to Mom and Dad. Lastly to KSOA, who for Dad, was the best medicine of all.
We love you Dad….after all…..”what’s not to love?”
