Remembering Mr. Mooney fondly and sending my sympathy to Margaret, David and Sheila at this sad time. I wasn't ever in his class at Ernestown, but I remember his standing at his classroom door every afternoon as we all made our way to the bus, "keeping his finger on the pulse" of student activity I think, and I especially remember the day he took me aside and asked whether I'd play at Trinity! I cherish my music-making time at Trinity, and it was the beginning of a lasting family bond of ours with yours!! Sending hugs and prayers from NC to all the family. Allison

Sad news to hear of the passing of Mr Mooney. Always enjoyed his classes back in the early '80's at ESS. From the photo, he looks timeless, a very familiar face to those in his classes! My sincerest condolences to his family. He had a great influence on many at ESS.

We have known Edgar since 1995 when he joined those in our area who study the American Civil War. He was at our monthly meetings (10 per year) as regularly as any of our members and enjoyed the camaraderie following some meetings at Tim Horton's and our weekly luncheons (social) at Smitty's every Wednesday. We will all miss him.
Sincerely from Paul Van Nest, President, Civil War Round Table of Greater Kingston, www.cwrtkingston.org

He had many of us buying little jars of liquid ink and metal pen nibs on a stick so we could write in an old fashion way; he forbade the use of any red pen; he had us all grow small vegetable gardens (with five rows) in our back yards and he actually came to each student's home to see and remark on our efforts; and he had a new Peugot car that sometimes required him to use a crank to get it started. In short, Mr. Mooney rocked!
To the Mooney family, I express my sadness and my sympathy to you. He truly was a great teacher.

Part One
People always remember where they were when they learned of the death of President John F. Kennedy. I had just returned from afternoon recess and was sitting in Mr. Mooney's class at Lord Strathcona Public School in Kingston, Ontario. Your Dad was our Grade 5 teacher and I can still see his solemn face as he told us what had just happened to the President and to all the citizens of the U.S. that afternoon.
Your Dad was my favourite teacher of all teachers. He had a remarkable ability to bring out the best in everyone.

Mr. Mooney greeted me every morning in Homeroom for my five years at Ernestown, often with sweet words of wisdom, or necessary reminders to stop my chattering. He was a wonderful math teacher and member of the Ernestown community and will not be forgotten. My condolences and well wishes go out to Margaret, Sheila and David and the extended Mooney family.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Mr. Mooney's illness and was heartbroken to read this obituary.
Sincerest sympathy to David, Sheila and Mrs. Mooney.
Mr. Mooney was one of the rare teachers who appreciated each students personality. He was fair and caring. He would always take the extra time to meet individually with students in order to ensure that their specific learning needs were being met.
Mr. Mooney was a wonderful role model as a teacher and as a human being.
I will never forget the time the Mooney's spent with my family after my brothers' death.
Forever in my heart, Edgar Mooney,
Much love to David, Sheila and Mrs. Mooney.
XOXO - Jenn Drew
