Obituary of William Braithwaite

(WW11 Veteran, Recipient of French Medal of Honour)

Bill entered into rest peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Alice Rose Braithwaite (Peg) whom he adored for over 50 years. Affectionately remembered by his step daughter Brenda and step son Nigel. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Tom, Jack, Vanessa, Virginia, Melanie and Russell and by his nieces and nephews. Bill was a long time member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Kingston serving faithfully for many years as an Elder. Bill was exceptionally proud of his many years of military service. A graveside service will be held at Wilton Cemetery on Friday, August 25th at 1pm with Rev. Dr. Andrew Johnston officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations to St. Andrews restoration fund would be appreciated and can be placed through the Paul G. Payne Funeral Home, Box 324, 178 Main St., Odessa, Ontario K0H 2H0 (613-386-7373). Bill was able to remain in his home due to the care afforded through CCAC and his VON case managers, personal care workers and personal support team with special thanks to Dave. Bill was very grateful also to Marc who cared for the property and Heather who cared for his little dog Rusty. He was fond of all of you and appreciated all you did to support him.
