Obituary of Grace Marion Compton (nee Leonard)
It is with great sadness that the family of Grace Compton announces her passing. Grace passed away peacefully at the Fox Run Retirement Residence in Gananoque with loving family by her side on Friday, November 3, 2017, at age 91.
A favored opera, a stack of books, a warm cat on her lap and a glass of wine defined the pleasures of life for Grace. If you didn’t know who Colm Willkinson was before you visited Grace, you knew when you left. “Bring Him Home” from “Les Miz” will be forever etched in our hearts and minds. Grace was there for everyone, ready with a bottle of wine and unlimited time to listen. If you were foolish enough to challenge her to a game Scrabble, you would surely be humbled. She will be profoundly missed by all of us “now and forever”.
Cherished wife of the late Walter Compton. Treasured mother of the late Pam Richmond (Jim), Cathy Wood, Leslie Singers (Sandy), Donna Percy (Gord), and Bob Compton (Sandra). Loving sister to Tom Leonard. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews and their families. Very proud Nana of Samantha and Christopher; Brendan, Jenna and Christian; Allison and Shawna; Elaine, Stephen, David and Donna Leigh; Sharon, Michelle and Scott. Dearly loved by 18 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren.
A private family “Celebration of Life” will be held in lieu of a service.
The family would like to extend our deep gratitude to all the staff at the Fox Run Retirement Residence in Gananoque for their attentiveness and sincere loving care.
In memory of Grace, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of KFL&A.
Arrangements entrusted to the PAUL G. PAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 178 Main St., Odessa, Ontario K0H 2H0 (613-386-7373). Online condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.paynefuneralhome.com
