Obituary of Joseph Cornelis van Veggel

Nov. 21, 1947 – Feb. 25, 2018

Joe entered peacefully into the presence of his lord on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Kingston Health Sciences Centre, in his 71st year. Beloved husband and best friend of Brenda (nee Dermott) and loving father of Marsha Blakely (Bryan) and Susan Silver (Jeff). Cherished Opa to Morgan, Natalie and the late Mason. Predeceased by his parents Kees and Anna Maria van Veggel. Dear brother of Marijke, Annemarie (Ger), Vera (Karel) and Alexander (Barbara), all residing in Holland. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Chris Smith, Dr. Andrea Robertson, Palliative Team and the nursing staff and PCA’s of Kidd 9 at KGH for the special care they provided during his stay. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Bay Park Baptist Church, 775 Progress Ave., Kingston, on Saturday, March 10th at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at the church for friends and family to celebrate Joe’s life. Joe was given the gift of life when he received a double lung transplant in November of 2011. He was very passionate about giving back to others by joining a Transplant Advocacy group here in Kingston. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to go to the Transplant Advocate Association or to Osteoporosis Canada would also be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the PAUL G.
