Condolences to Lyle, Sylvia and Holly from the Simonsen family on the passing of a wife, a mother and a grandmother. We have many fond memories of Mary from our yearly family visits to Wolfe Island. Our mother (Doris) was a good friend and to this day, with a failing memory, she still can recall Mary clearly. I always enjoyed her stories about the farm and life on the island. Dad met Mary and Lyle when he came to the island from Denmark to work for George Pyke sr in 1954 and remained life long friends. Dad would regal us with stories from Lyle and Mary in their courting days with the trip to Niagara fall, Castle loma and the El Macombo and the humourous situations they found themselves in on that trip. And of course, dad would go on about Mary's baking. Especially her lemon meringue pie. We are sorry for your loss.
