John was born in Stephenville, Texas on February 28, 1927, the son of Joel Andrew Rives and Annie Lee (Winters) Rives, brother to Bill, Joe Frank, Wayne and Jo Ann. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Geneva Faye (Larson) Rives; sons Joel and John; daughters Donna (Rives) Wobbe (Hans-Werner) and Linda (Rives) Lance (Allan); grandchildren Karl Wobbe (Julie); Paul Wobbe (Julie); Genna Wobbe (Charles); Sarah (Lance) Dean (Glenn) and James Lance (Dinah); and great grandchildren Aliana and Victoria Wobbe, Liam and Nathaniel Phillips and Jesselyn Lance. John was a World War 2 veteran, graduate of the Universities of Oklahoma and Kansas and a Professional Engineer. He loved to teach and held positions at Arkansas State College, the University of Kansas, the University of Toronto and the Methods Engineering Council. Above all he was our beloved “Granddad”. In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or charity of your choice. Donations may be made (By Cheque Only) through The Paul G. Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa, ON KOH 2HO .
