Obituary of Jacqueline Wanda Smith 'Jackie'

Please share a memory of Jacqueline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
SMITH: Jaqueline Wanda ‘Jackie’ (nee Spencer) Jackie passed away Monday March 23rd peacefully but too soon. Born in Toronto on May 9th 1935, daughter of Ernest and Georgina Spencer (nee Sargent). She is also predeceased by brother Robert. Survived by her loving husband Carmon Smith and brother Ken (Doreen). Jackie and Carmon, childhood sweethearts had three beautiful children. Darlene Whitaker, Christopher Smith (Laurette) and Catherine Smith. She will be also missed by son-in-law Jeff Whitaker. Jackie was loved dearly by all her grandchildren Ryan Lemmon(Kelsey), Stephanie Whitaker, Joshua Smith(Tylor), Jordan Smith, Katie Fejer and Cole Smith. Great grandchildren Emma Smith, Owen Smith and Hadleigh Smith were lucky to have met Jackie and cherished the time spent with her. Carmon and Jackie met at a very young age in Odessa, Ontario. Carmon was 12 and Jackie was 14. Carmon’s younger brother Marvin was a very young child and Jackie would push him around in his stroller as an excuse to see her crush and spend time with him. Over the next few years they remained friends until Carmon finally got the nerve to ask her out. They were married at the age of 20 and 22 years old. Their life together became a big adventure that neither one of them could have anticipated. Together they accomplished so much, tackled many hurdles and managed to stick by one another for more than 57 years. Their children chose to live close by, all living within 2 miles of one another along Simmons Rd. Jackie Smith will be forever known as a supportive mother to everyone in her family and her close friends. She loved and lived life to the fullest. It was small things that made her smile – her ‘chippies’ and birds, cutting grass on her John Deere, books, horror movies, cooking for family and friends, scrabble and Red Rose tea. She had the ability to connect with every person in her life. Jackie will be forever in each of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and husband. Her mark has been made in this world and she will be remembered for decades to come. Others who loved Jackie like family but are not blood include Ashly Solberg, Carlos Alberto, Jeff Burling and Nikita Brown. There will be no funeral or wake at Jackie and Carmon’s request. On May 9th, 2015 on what would be Jackies 80th birthday there will be a party to celebrate her life at 661 Simmons Rd., at her home. Friends and family are asked to celebrate Jackie’s life from 1pm until 6pm on Saturday. Anyone wishing to donate in Jackie’s memory may do so to Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre either directly or through the PAUL G. PAYNE FUNERAL HOME, Box 324, Odessa, On K0H 2H0 613-386-7373
