Janis was my Aunt. She was married to my mother's brother Patrick. Some of my most cherished memories of childhood are the times I spent with my Aunt Jan. Aunt Jan taught me about poetry and I still remember her favorite poem:
IS THE APPLE TREE A THING OF GOODNESS IF ITS WOOD CAN MAKE BOW?
A BOW TO CARRY AN ARROW THAT CAN KILL A FRIEND OR FOE.
THE APPLE TREE IS A THING OF GOODNESS AND I WILL TELL YOU WHY THATS SO,
GOD MADE THE APPLE AND THE APPLE TREE,
FORE IT IS MAN WHO MAKES THE BOW.
My Aunt Jan loved her family. She had a soft heart and she was one of the kindest people I have ever known.
I will forever hold a special place in my heart for my Aunt Jan.
I know Jan is with our LORD JESUS CHRIST.
I love you Aunt Jan and I will never forget you.
Love, Eileen

The Duffy family lived across the street from my family when I was growing up. Janis was the life of the party with an infectious laugh, and beauty that drew people to her. She was a true treasure and we all loved her.
