Obituary of Marta McCarey (Szabo)

Marta passed away peacefully at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KGH) following a brief illness on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at the age of 73. Beloved wife and best friend of Jim McCarey for 50 years. Born in Hungary in 1946. At the age of 11, Marta and her mother Ilona made the journey to Canada. While at University in Ottawa she met her soul mate Jim, from Belleville. Marta loved children, so becoming a teacher seemed especially fitting. Marta taught with the Catholic District School Board for over 30 years. She enjoyed her career, fellow colleagues and the children. Marta and Jim loved to travel, they enjoyed several trips back to Hungary. Marta is predeceased by her mother Ilona. She is survived by her brother-in-law Michael McCarey (late Linda) and family.
