Obituary of Herbert Wesley Martin

15 June 1941 - 26 November 2020

Peacefully and surrounded by family at home near Ottawa on Thursday, November 26, 2020, at 79 years of age. Friend and husband of Nicole. Dear father of Josée (Joshua Milwain), Dwight (Whitney Gemmill), Terry (Monika), Teresa Laflamme (Michel), Thomas (Rachel St-Aubin) and Tania McCooeye (Adam). He was the loving grandfather of Esmé Milwain, Evelyn, Aubrey & Blair Martin, Kimberly Butler-Martin, Tiffany Cantalini, Zoé & Mieka Laflamme, Courtney & Chad Martin, Amanda & Jessy Cadieux, and great-grandfather to Ryan, Thomas-Jude, Gabriella, Ava and Axel. Predeceased by his parents Milford Martin and Mary Parks. Survived by sisters Buryl Keene, Bess Lemmon and brothers Merv, Earl and Raymond. Predeceased by his siblings Edna Lowell, Edwin, Grace Whittle, Alvin, Milton & Rhonda Henderson. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

A huge thank you to his caregivers, Tania, Teresa, Terry, Monika and daughter-in-law Claire Martin. A special thank you to Allisa Romeo whom he thought the world of. 

The family will receive friends at the Paul G. Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa, Ontario K0H 2H0 on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Graveside Service will be held at the United Church Cemetery in Bath (402 Academy Street) on Saturday, December 5 at 11:00 am. Due to COVID restrictions, all attendees must confirm their attendance for the visitations and graveside service, by clicking the RSVP tab on the bottom of Herb’s memorial page at www.paynefuneralhome.com or by calling the Funeral Home (613-386-7373). Mandatory COVID-19 protocols will be in effect including physical distancing inside and outside the funeral home and at the cemetery. Face masks are also required.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to a charity of your choice in Herb’s name would be appreciated by the family. A Celebration of his life (Herbie’s style) will be held late spring / early June 2021.
