This morning I learned of Laurie's passing during my weekly call home to my dear mum. Our sincere condolences to the Ross and Watson families on your loss, from the Stewart family.
Although it's been a very long time since our paths crossed, I still recall fond memories of the Ross family and our elementary school days together those many years ago. From what I've read (and know from visits home over the years), Sydenham has lost an institution in the passing of Laurie. May he rest in peace.
Keeping your families in our hearts and minds.

Dear Andrea , Kelsey and Megan. I'm very sorry to hear of Laurie's passing . Laurie's passion to win on the football field and inspire the rest of slackers on the Parade of Paints always made the game more fun - I often played next to him on defense and he would roll his eyes at me more often than not( b/c I blew my coverage) but I always knew I could count on him to cover my tracks and he did and I mean ALWAYS ! I had a lot of fun playing on different teams and tournaments with Laurie. I also had the good fortune to connect with Laurie every two weeks at the store ( I was a sales rep back then ) and we would shoot the breeze about our last game but we would just talk about current events and scarf back a few Viva Puff cookies :). I really enjoyed those Tuesday's as much as I enjoyed driving him crazy on the football field! I have such great memories of Laurie and I'm so glad that we had the chance to cross paths. Again , my heartfelt condolences to your family . John and JoAnn Holmgren

Dear Ross Family, Please accept my condolences. Laurie was a kind and beautiful person. I was fortunate to meet Laurie through touch football and was always happy to see him at the field, either playing together on the same team or against each other. Laurie was the ultimate sportsman, giving it his all, always positive with his teammates and conversing with everyone at the field. He was a bright beacon of goodness and his soul will continue to shine in all the people that were blessed to have met him. May your many fond memories of Laurie give you comfort and peace.

Mr. Laurie Ross,
He was my first mentor, and a man who taught me many valuable life lessons as a young man. Attending secondary school, and approaching life as an adult in the real world, his guidance was essential.
He taught me how to cut a T-bone steak, how to marinade the perfect chicken for the kabob, how to link a perfect string of hot Italian sausages, and how to maintain a perfectly clean work area despite the messy nature of the job environment.
All of these seemingly minor tasks at the time, I now realize were lessons that would inspire and create a work ethic that would last a lifetime. I am so grateful for having the chance to spend several years working with Laurie and learning from his positive attitude and sincere approach to life.
He always kept so much pride in his work, and he made a point to transfer that enthusiasm onto his trainees and co-workers.
His undevoted love for his family and community are all examples of why Laurie Ross was an exceptional man.
Thank you Laurie for all that you have done, and may you Rest In Peace.
Much love ❤️
Mattski

Laurie was one of those in our community that is best described as ‘salt of the earth’, hardworking, dependable and proud of his family. In all the years I knew him at the gym he seldom missed (he still has the ‘plank’ record) and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.

Laurie was one of the best guys I know who showed welcoming and love to his family. I loved listening to his stories from the coast and of course he’d correct me if I pronounced the little towns wrong( just a silly memory) but he truly was a great guy and I learned so much from him as my co worker. He is the only guy I know who could tell a play by play of a football game better than the announcer! I will miss him dearly and heaven gained a angel. Sending my Deepest condolences & strength as the days forward.

As a member of the Harrowsmith community for over 20 years I have many fond memories of Laurie. My first is him coming to pick up Kelsey from Girl Guides with a wee Megan on his shoulders and a smile on his face. He loved his daughters with all of his heart! Then Andrea and I were "Rainbow" and "Sparkle" in the 1st Harrowmith Spark Unit, and Laurie was always there to help us with whatever we needed him to do. He worked hard for his family, and I loved our weekly conversations at Foodland. Then there was when I worked at Hillside Coffee Co. and he would come in every day (in his shorts no matter the weather or temperature!) to get his coffee and we always had a great little chat. He was a quiet guest at bonfires, hockey games, and celebrations but always someone I enjoyed talking with. He will be forever missed in the Harrowsmith community, but many fond memories to guide us through the coming days and years!

I was literally just thinking of Laurie yesterday afternoon while preparing dinner..dinner was chicken thighs and I was skinning the fat off them..although that may seem.odd to some to me its just one of the things I remeber Laurie teaching me over the years..I had the pleasure of working with Laurie for 5 years and he made every day enjoyable. I invited me to play various sports with him over the years, adult dodgeball was especially fun..the cliché you'll never meet a nicer guy gets thrown around alot. But in lauries case its no cliche, you truly could not have meet a nicer person. I enjoyed being a part of your life my friend and will truly miss you...my sincere condolences to the entire family.. I will be sure to wear my Laurie strong t-shirt with pride in to the future..
