Diane and I were saddened to hear of the passing of our good friend Ron Merrill. Vera and Ron were a charming couple and we did a lot of things over the years.
Ron always had several projects on the go but he was never to busy to stop and give someone a hand. His butterfly hatching, raising and releasing was always admired. We always took time to go out to our favourite store... Princess Auto and some of our favourite restaurants.
I first remember meeting Ron when he came to the plant in Smith Falls with Bob were we soon struck up a friendship.
Ron, Vera, Diane and I would attend many different music festivals which we thoroughly enjoyed, not to mention the many RV trips. We will always cherish the many memories that we had with Ron and Vera.
As I stated, Ron will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. Vera we feel for you and love you. You remember God loves you too and He will give you strength to carry one.
Love Diane and Graham Bell.

Vera -Bob and I were very saddened to hear of Ron's passing. Bob was just texting him a few days ago and he indicated that he was undergoing a new treatment but was hanging in and doing ok, needless to say we were quite surprised to read in the Whig that he had passed. Ron was a special person with a warm, caring heart and a fun loving spirit. Bob recalls all the times they were running the business and making many, many trips to Smiths Falls. Bob enjoyed Ron's stories and his jokes, said it made the trip seem shorter. Bob also remembers stopping along the side of the road on a regular basis because Ron would spot something that he could use on one of his cars or a useless trinket that he might need one day. There was never a dull moment .. they were more than colleagues but good friends. I remember when Bob introduced me to Ron and I instantly liked him. Ron was very hospitable and invited us in for a drink and to my surprise there was an engine in the Livingroom which he was working on and at that moment I knew Ron was a bachelor through and through, I also knew he needed a good women. It wasn't long after that you became part of his life. We were so happy that he had found a warm, caring, fun loving person to share his life with, a life full of memories that will live forever in your heart. Over the past few years we have not seen a lot of each other but you guys have always had a very special place in our hearts and Ron will be sorely missed.
During the pandemic and staying away from family and friends have been difficult for everyone but especially difficult at a time like this. Although we can not be together we hope that you can feel our arms around you with a warm embrace and know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. We extend our deepest sympathy. Please stay safe and well. Hopefully we will see you in the near future.
Bob and Karen
