To my dear friend Nancy, Bob's family and all of the Sjonger family, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Bob had such a great laugh, he always had a joke ready to go, and he always had a brilliant sparkle in those beautiful, blue eyes. He really was such a great guy - everybody loved Bob. I like to picture him sitting at the 19th hole having just beat Garry at a round of golf again! Perfect weather, perfect greens, perfect score! You will be missed by all of us Bob, but never forgotten.

Dear Nancy, Jon, Shannon and family. We are so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. He was a delight to be around. I knew something was coming when his eyes sparkled. During the January ice storm of 1997 Bob and Bobbie (Shannon) went to our cottage to check it out for us. Bob’s description of Bobbie slipping and sliding half way down the hill - in his cowboy boots - always brought and brings a smile. Bob was such a good man. He will be missed. Fondly, Janice Attree-Smith and David Smith

My sincere condolences to the Family – As teenagers at CFB Rivers, Manitoba, Bob was part of our group with myself, Joy, and several others. I lost touch after the family went to Germany in late 1963 *their first Christmas in Germany. I share a young Bobby, I hope these pictures bring a smile and tender feeling to brighten your hearts. Also in youth, he was a great guy. June

Dear Nancy, Jon, Shannon and all of Bobby’s family,
This is a hard one. I do not know where to start. My heart aches.
I first met Bob and the Turner family during the summer of 1961 at CFB Rivers MB. They lived across the back yard from us. Bob and I are the same age. His older brother Eric and I were best buds. Wendy was younger but she was always in the background. The family left Rivers for Soest Germany in October 1963.
Bob was a natural born athlete and a great prankster. He played baseball in the summer and dabbled in a bit of hockey in the winter. As I recall, he was not passionate about hockey. It was just a way to release some energy. Baseball was his passion. He played with the Rivers Comets during the summers of 1962 and 1963. In 2013, the Rivers Comets team of 1964 was induced into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame. Bob was rotted about that as he was not part of that team. He missed it by a year.
On the prankster side of him, he had a nickname for everyone. He called himself Bubby Albin. He called me Brat. My mother’s name was Trenna. Bob called her Big Tren. Bob always knew how to get my mother going. My mother was a fine seamstress. She made all of our clothes. Her sewing machine was beside the little porch that was by the front door. One day Bob got off the school bus and on his way home, he marched in through our front door unannounced. Now the first sin was to enter my mother’s house without knocking. The second sin was to not take your street footwear off after entering my mother’s house. Bob breezed by my mother sitting at her sewing machine and it was like “ hey Big Tren. How’s it going.” No more to it than that. He went through the living room and into the kitchen. He opened up all the cupboard doors. He took stuff out of the cupboards and put it in the fridge and the oven. He took stuff out of the fridge and put it in the cupboards. Mom had a bum ankle and she could not move that fast. By the time she got out to the kitchen, the kitchen was upside down. She wrung up her fist at Bob and called him “ you young bugger.” Bob was long gone out the back door. She laughed about that. But he got her good in a matter of seconds.
Bob was a wonderful person. He left us with a lot of wonderful memories. I send my heartfelt condolences to his family. You were everything to him. Cherish your memories. Hold on to each other as you grieve your loss. Bob is at peace now. He is at home with the rest of his family. Hugs to you all. RIP dear Bobby.

Bob was an amazing man. Those of us lucky enough to call him a friend, knew we had a wonderful person in our lives who would go out of his way to make us feel appreciated. My deepest condolences to Nancy, and the rest of Bob’s family.
