Oom Chris was the first friend of my Opa and Oma (oom Peer and Tante Marijke) that I remember meeting when I was very young. I was very shocked when I noticed that he only had one arm, and hid behind my grandparents as I was terrified and confused. Oom Chris quickly started making jokes and showed me how easy it was for him to do anything. When we left, I ran into his arms for a big hug and left happier and more confident than ever. Oom Chris in my memories was always out and about, mowing the lawn, sailing, even showing up at our cottage dock at 12am sounding the bell to have a midnight boat party with all of the friends and family. He possessed a very strong spirit, and I'll never forget his energy and character. You will be missed! Love Karissa, Joshua and William

I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of Chris.
I will always remember the smirk on his face when he heard something disagreeable or funny.
My thoughts are with you all at this difficult time.
May you all cherish the memories of a wonderful husband and father.

Chris was our neighbour for many years. We loved to watch him sail. He was so kind to my mother when she was out here alone and was always a good and loving man. We are so sorry that he has left. May there be water in heaven to sail on, Chris.

Big hugs to the family, “opa” will be forever missed. I have many memories over the years of my parents talk of thanksgiving dinners shared with the VanRossem’s at the cottage on the lake. I would like to think they have had a time to reunite and chat perhaps of those times. I did get to partake in one of those thanksgiving dinners, not at the cottage but with the family nevertheless - I still hear grumbles from someone that Opa got them in trouble feeding Fief’s boys under the table. May your memories be forever strong and keep his spirit alive in your hearts, much love to all.

I will always remember how warmly Chris and Lise (Opa and Oma) welcomed me into their family and to family events during my time living in Kingston. Chris’s sense of humour, love of the water, and beautiful cottage on the lake are lasting memories for me. I can only imagine how many others like me have been welcomed into the family throughout the years. I’m forever grateful for the incredible Van Rossems and send my loving condolences to all of you.
