Sandy & Robin, may you both find peace in the many memories you built as a family over the years. I have fond memories of play dates with you Robin as kids on Fleet St. when we visited Mike, Sue & Scott on weekends. I enjoyed seeing Gord & Sandy at the store in the years afterwards. Gord always seemed full of a great spirit & energy. Didn’t realize he was from Newfoundland. I have been living with my family down in PEI for the past 6 years or so. Hugs to both of you. Robin, I loved seeing your pictures on Facebook. What a beautiful tribute to your Dad. Take care. Kristina (Bonter) Hulton

Sandy and Robin,
My heart goes out to you both. I’m saddened by the loss of a man who always saw potential in people and nurtured it. He gave me the opportunity to work at his side at Play and Learn and I have kept that experience and knowledge close. I’ve missed him in the past ten years, and I miss him now. With love, Kim

My dear sister in law Sandy and wonderful niece Robin, words cannot express enough how saddened I was about Gord's passing. I still find it hard to believe.
Gord was a good, good man. He made me feel like part of the family from the start, always kind. His kindness extended to everyone he knew. It impressed me so much how he treated mine and his in laws, Joan and Gerry, with respect and kindness to the end. I'll also never forget the welcoming he gave, just last summer, to me my son Michael and his wife CJ, at their lovely home. He was especially kind and involved with my grandkids Catherine and Massimo who were at their home for the first time. Thank you Gord for your quiet, gentle love that u showed us. We will miss you. Rest well my friend.

Paul Martin (The Blushing Brides)
I’m jealous of the fact that some students experienced an entire year or more with Gord as their teacher. My experience was less than a month and it spawned a friendship that lasted 50 years. It’s hard to compile a friendship that had lasted that long, I was even speaking to him a day before his passing. But I know exactly when it started.
He was my grade 7 supply teacher for less than a month at Holsgrove Public School in Westbrook Ontario at the age of 12. By the time I was 13 he was already my music manager and guided me through the impressionable years and beyond. He instilled in me, at an early age, how to look at what you are seeing through a different kind of lens.
I would say his greatest trait was selflessness. He helped other achieve heights of success and possibilities that they hadn’t even pictured in their own minds. His only guilty pleasure was possibly patting himself on the back knowing that he had helped us reach that achievement. He was one of those rare personalities that never said “it can’t be done”. He had my back for the entire time on this planet.
The saying goes: “They are only really gone when they are forgotten”.
The legacy and memory of Gord Nicholl will never leave my brain. Therefore, he will live as long I will (or longer)
Long distance hugs to Sandy and Robin (I've got your back)

This is such sad news. Gord was a fixture in the toy industry, and was unfailingly kind to me over the many years I had the good fortune of working with him. He was always full of great advice, both in terms of business and life in general. A true gentleman in every sense of the word. My deepest condolences to Sandy and Robin on your loss. May Gord's memory forever be a blessing to you.

Thinking of you today and in the days ahead....

So sad to hear of Mr. Nicholas passing, or Sir as he had his students call him. He taught me in grade 8 and I still remember our talks and his efforts to keep me on a good path. He made learning so fun and he was a passionate educator. While I was away at university we corresponded often and he would send me flyers of the bands he was managing. RIP Sir, I have never forgotten you.

Sincere condolences to Mr. Nicholl's family - I am very sad to hear this news. He taught me for two years around 1980 - grades 6 and 7 - in this incredible classroom downstairs behind the library at RG Sinclair. There has never been another teacher that had as profound an influence on my education and learning experience. He brought passion every day into that room and taught us so much more than the regular curriculum. He showed us the poetry and meaning of music through our Like Books (and many of us still have these 40 years later, including myself). He taught us grammar that, while painful at the time, honestly laid the foundation for my ability to write coherent letters and reports today. He encouraged us to be whatever we dreamed - and that anything was possible. I was (and still am) a huge Springsteen fan - and he coined the term "Sandy Springsteen" .... there are people that still call me this today, Even though I haven't seen him in so many years, my experiences from those two years have always stayed with me and in many ways shaped who I am today. What an incredible legacy - which I hope gives his family and friends comfort in this time of grief - Sandra Ketchen

So very sorry to hear of Gord’s passing. My deepest and sincerest condolences to Sandy and Robin…
Without Gord, my life would have played out much differently. His acceptance of this rudderless street kid from Montreal gave me the focus, guidance and confidence that I carry with me to this day, and have passed those life lessons on to my own children and grandchildren.
Without Gord, there would be NO Blushing Brides, my life’s work. Gord, named us, nurtured us and worked tirelessly to help us succeed. And for the last 43 years we’ve amassed more than 5000 concerts, 2 albums, and none of that would have been possible without Gord. He is directly responsible for that longevity and dedication to excellence. Gord, like my own father, championed the underdog. And indeed, he was like a second father, to all the Brides.
Gord, was a good and decent man, and his legacy and memory will live on….
Thank you Gord, YOU ROCK !!!

Such sad news. Gord (Mr. Nicholl) was my Grade 6 teacher in Bayshore Public School in 1966/67. He had a more profound influence on me than any other teacher I every had and I always wished I could reconnect. Finally, after 46 years and endless searches on the internet, I found him and had the most wonderful visit at his home, and we had been in contact via email ever since. I will never forget his enthusiasm, fairness, energy and sense of humour. Thank you, Gord, for being the man you were. Sincere and heartfelt condolences to Sandy, Robin and the whole family on this huge loss. He will be forever in our hearts and minds.

As my grade 8 teacher, Gord had a huge impact on my life… he was an “out of the ordinary” teacher who encouraged, listened and had the best Friday afternoon classes. He went outside the normal book teaching and delved into “life”. I was fortunate to be able to express
my appreciation to him when I ran into him 30 yrs later. Condolences to his family and friends.
