Harold was a big man with a big heart. He served the Ernestown and Loyalist Township communities well.. He was the guy who kept one eye on the weather and organized the winter ploughing that got everyone to work and school. In his day there was little back-up support. In winter his job was 24-7.
Harold was a wealth of information and he knew most of the property owners and their character in the rural sections of the Township. i always respected his common sense advice on any topic. He was an advocate for rural road improvements and took advantage of any opportunities when he saw them. He was the first to jump in when someone needed a hand.
Odessa area was home to Harold and he was respected by all who knew him especially his roads crew staff.
Great job Harold. Good to know that the roads will be clear in heaven if I ever get there!

What a great picture of Harold in his blue work shirt, and a perfect way for me to remember this big man. As my second supervisor after Donnie Huff he was a great man and mentor for me. A "friendly giant" who did his best for the community of Ernestown township now Loyalist. Harold will always be remembered as a great person in all aspects of his life. Rest in peace Harold...and my condolences to all of the family

So sorry to read of Harold’s passing. Odessa, Ernestown Township, and Loyalist Township has lost a great Man.Harold always was a pleasure to talk with, a very happy approachable person and helped anyone in need or any group with a cause. His wisdom about the township infrastructure would fill many volumes…no laptop, google or engineering degree with Harold, as he knew everything about the roads, township water flow, misc township information and Harold knew everyone and their dog. I wish all the folks that are new to Odessa and area had the opportunity to meet Harold. His Mother, Father and sister Linda are/ were the exact same friendly people. July 1970, Bruce,Ted and myself helped Harold load hay onto wagons and Mrs. Fairbanks insisted we come in for lunch which she served us, roast beef, pork chops, 4 vegetables and 3 different pies. To this day I can’t believe how much Bruce can eat. RIP Harold you did good. Our deepest Sympathies to Carol and Family, I hope fond memories will help with your sorrow.
Sincerely Jackie & Byron Benest
