Obituary of Richard Howard Waller
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Waller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, family man, friend and a dedicated sports enthusiast. Richard peacefully departed this world on August 7th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories.
Born on July 10th, 1943, Richard Waller lived a life filled with passion and dedication. He was an avid curler and golfer, finding joy and camaraderie on the greens and ice throughout his years. Richard's commitment to these sports reflected his zest for life and his determination to stay active and engaged in the things he loved.
Richard's first love was always his family. He was predeceased by his first wife, Lesley Waller (nee Lawrence), with whom he shared countless moments of happiness and togetherness. Through life's joys and challenges, their bond remained strong.
In later years, Richard found love and companionship once again, marrying Elaine (nee Chesher). Their union brought comfort and warmth, and they shared a deep connection that enriched their lives.
Beyond his athletic pursuits, Richard was a skilled craftsman and carpenter, with talents that were truly unmatched. His creativity and dedication were evident in the beautiful pieces he crafted, leaving behind a lasting legacy of his craftsmanship that will be treasured by his loved ones.
Richard's devotion to his family was unwavering. He is survived by his children Peter (Kim - passed 2019), Joe (Jacquie) and Samantha Moreau (Paul), all of whom he loved dearly. His presence in their lives brought a sense of guidance, wisdom and unwavering support that will be deeply missed.
One of Richard's greatest joys was being a doting grandfather to Haley, Leo Howard (deceased at birth), Madi, Carter, Cora, Laura, Ben and Sam. He delighted in spoiling them and sharing in their milestones, making sure he was actively engaged in their lives, creating cherished memories that will forever be etched in their hearts.
Richard and his siblings shared a close bond. He will be sadly missed by Irene Holland (Stan), Thelma Mott (Bryce Hunter), Larry Waller (Mary), George Waller (Jane) and Noreen Jarvis (Pete).
As we bid farewell to Richard Waller, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, family, sportsmanship and craftsmanship. His memory will continue to live on through the stories shared, the laughter echoed, and the love felt by all who were fortunate to know him.
A gathering to honor and celebrate Richard's life will be held on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023 at Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa from 1-3pm and 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF) in Richard's memory.
