Hi Mary. So sorry to hear of Mac’s passing. I was just a young kid in Eastend SK but he was my Jets hero. We always joked because you were such a Leaf fan and I cheered for the Canadiens. Dad and Mac were good friends and Dad always did the service when you guys were away. Have lots of wonderful memories of you two and remember being very sad when you moved. Take care. Go Habs. I learned of Mac’s death today May 17, 2021. My husband Tom Trafford and I met Mac at Mount Allison in the fall of 1956.Tom was the assistant dean of the Academy residence & I (his new bride of only a few weeks) lived in a tiny apartment beside Mac’s room. I’m sure we had a lifetime relationship like no other, even continuing after he moved into his final home. Trevor helped. Today is one of great sadness for me but I know Mac would embrace his departure with Philosophical wisdom. Give my love to the old boy already there and thanks for the book♥️

Thinking of you all - Andy, Trevor, Mary, Donee. Your Dad, husband, brother-in-law, friend. My Uncle Mac was an amazing man. So many good memories of cottage, and Moscow, boats, fishing, and just horsing around at the dinner table. Wish I could be there to hug you all, but you will be in my thoughts.

Dear Steinburg family,
On behalf of the Correctional Service of Canada, I want to express my sincere condolences for the loss of Mac. I was saddened to hear of his passing.
Mac was a wonderful person and great asset to the Correctional Service of Canada during the many years he worked with us. Mac was a Chaplain at Collins Bay Institution in 1968. He then worked as a Parole Officer in Kingston before he served in various senior roles for the Parole Board of Canada. Mac was a pioneer, in many ways, in the field of federal corrections. He believed in transparency and giving a voice to those in the federal correctional system.
Over the course of my career, I had the opportunity to work with Mac. When I started my career as a Parole Officer at Collins Bay Institution in 1983, I often had to present cases before Mac. I have very fond memories of him. He was a good listener and always asked very insightful questions. He filled a room with his presence and conviction. Mac assisted so many people throughout his life in every way he could and he did this with a full heart. His legacy will live on.
I want you to know that Mac will be missed by his many friends and former colleagues. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Thank you for sharing the beautiful photos as a tribute to his rich life and positive impact on others.
With heartfelt condolences,
Anne

Mary, Andy, Trevor and families
Please except my condolences on the passing of Mac
It has been a number of years since our school days in Enterprise and minor hockey days in Tamworth where I had the privilege of being around your family
I have good memories of your dad as he always seemed to have a confident way about him with a quick witted comment and a smile on his face
A true family man that always had family first, although he was definitely willing to lend a helping hand to others as well
It appears as though the past few years may have been a challenge please treasure the happy times in Mac's life
Once again my sympathy

Mary, Trevor and families.
I was sad to hear of Mac's death. I am blessed to have some wonderful memories.
He was a real mentor to me when preparing layperson services for Riverside United Church; always willing to meet with me and review the word of God, develop a prayer or choose an appropriate hymn.
I will miss his quick wit and his laugh....and all his wonderful story telling. And of course his love for something sweet to eat....like a pie!
God bless and hugs to you all.

Hello Mary,
You may not remember me but you were one of my early friends at the Kingston YMYWCA in 1960-62. I remember your apartment on the corner of Clergy and Barrie Streets. I didn't know your husband but I want to extend my sympathy to you.

I am honoured to have met and worked with Rev Mac, both in church and in prison ministry. What a gentle, kind soul. He was so loving to my special needs son. He always had such a welcoming grin & wonderful stories! Lol...each sermon he preached always left everyone hanging on every word. He knew how to tug at the heart- especially mine! During one of his sermons, he spoke of a child suffering & looked over at me. I think he knew I would be crying.
God's blessings to you all.....rest, my friend, in the arms of God.
