I just read in the Oshawa paper that Marilyn passed away. Marilyn and I first met on a train going to New Brunswick in 1978. I saw her at the Oshawa train station but had not spoken to her as we were both saying goodbye to our spouses. The next morning I saw her sitting at a table in the dining car and I asked if I could join her. Thank goodness she said yes. I was not aware that she was deaf until she told me. Thus started our wonderful friendship. We sent a lot of time together. She and Reg would come over for dinner with my family. We joined TOPS together: Spent time together. Unfortunately we lost contact with each other when she and Reg moved east. Marilyn and Reg were the nicest couple. Phil, not sure if you remember me, but I am sending my sincere condolences to you and your family. Marilyn will be truly missed. I wish everyone in the world was as kind, intelligent, warm and humble as this amazing person.

Marilyn was a valued member of our building at L’Hermitage. She lived life with dignity and grace, and tried to teach some of us ASL. We will miss her lovely smile.

I was saddened to hear of Marilyn's passing. She was a kind and generous woman. I loved to hear her giggle when she communicated enthusiastically with my Uncle Reg. They are together again. My condolences to your family.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Joyed knowing she is face to face with her Saviour. Marilyn was so kind and patient with me as she tried to teach me sign language but I was a tough student. I have nothing but good memories of her and Reg. Will keep the family in prayer.

How sad l was to hear of Marylin’s passing. The last time I saw Marylin we were talking. I was very young and was trying very hard to use the little sign language l knew. She was very patient and encouraging. Her smile was comforting. It was lovely to reconnect with her years later on Facebook. She was such a beautifully kind person.

Very saddened to hear of Marilyn’s passing. I have wonderful memories of the good times my parents, siblings, and I had at the cottage on Hay Bay with your family. I knew Marilyn pretty well when she was coming to Gospel Light Baptist Church here in Bathurst. I admired her positive attitude towards life even when things were not always easy: she always had that big smile to welcome all of us. I pray that the LORD comforts you in this time of sorrow.
