Pastor Manuel Donoso
A wonderful man of God has passed away. Pastor Manuel Donoso. There is so much to say about him. A handsome Chilean pastor that was a Pastor before he was even a Pastor. This amazing human being was so full of love for God that he reflected that by loving, guiding, comforting his fellow man.
Pastor Donoso loved sharing the word of God and Reaching out to people.
Before he was a Pastor, he used to work on a delivery company. Between deliveries or during his lunch break he would use that time to contact people to follow up on whatever situation they might be going through.
Personally, I met him on the Spanish church. I have been invited to sing and he was preaching there that day. After the service we chatted and I found him very pleasant, such a nice respectful gentleman very jovial with a nice smile.
During that time, I was going through some very painful time. As pastor he got to know of my struggles, he opened his heart in friendship, in counselling. He would ALWAYS provide words of hope and comfort. He used to share his owns struggles and victories. And soon, I developed a profound respect and admiration for the way he was ministering me and many others.
I could easily understand why he was so loved and so cherished by everyone in the church.
One particular memory that stayed very deep in my heart; was for one Christmas. I was going through a very difficult and painful situation in my life. That Christmas, I was heartbroken and lonely. I was bursting in tears very often throughout the day. Therefore, I decided that Christmas I was not going to go anywhere. I would stay home just nursing my pain. I felt I needed to be alone, also I did it want to bring my sadness to anyone's home.
Pastor Donoso invited me to spend that Christmas at his home with his lovely family. I politely thanked him and declined the invitation, and I explained how I felt. That I would not be any good company for anybody. That I was crying often.
He didn’t take no for an answer he insisted until I say yes. He told me: "I know what you are going through and I understand. So, let’s do a special arrangement when you feel the need to be alone you will go to the guest room and when you feel you want to share you can come out and share with us". That was such a good sincere proposal that I could not say no.
I spend that Christmas with his family at his home. His wife so loving and supportive so was his mother-in-law and children.
This was the type of man of God he was. A man of integrity. If he knew you were in trouble or hurting, he would never leave you. He would carry you until you were on a good place.
Pastor Donoso ministered me during that difficult time in my life and many years more.
That is why when I got married, I chose him to married us because he would know what it meant to me, the happiness the joy. I knew He was a special man of God, and I wanted his blessings as the spiritual father he was to me.
Today, I thank God for meeting Pastor Donoso for all the love, counselling and support I received from him. He for sure was one of a kind.
Thank you, Judy and family, for sharing Pastor Donoso with us. May God comfort you during this big loss.
Pastor Donoso thank you for everything you did for us and many others. May his peace be with you until we meet again.
Sincerely,
Escarlet

Pastor Manuel and Judy came into our lives as a tremendous blessing of friendship when we needed them the most. (Although we did not realize this at the time) those delightful “machitunes” of kind friendship, laughter and fellowship really saved us. Changed the trajectory of our lives and brought us back to love, mercy, humour, understanding and gratitude.
Pastor Manuel is the real thing. A sincere man of God. Pure and simple.
We would marvel at the stories he shared of his amazing life journey, experiences and his truly miraculous “travel adventures” where just the right person would cross his path at just the right moment and by Devine intervention; tickets, hotel rooms, finances etc would all fall into place perfectly.
Pastor Manuel’s leaving this earth leaves a tremendous void and deep feelings of loss for so many. He touched so many lives. He made time to help so very many friends (every person he met felt like a friend). He was tireless in his enthusiasm to help and to minister. Always with an excited twinkle in his eye, an easy smile and the wisdom and confidence of a true soldier for God.
I enjoyed our email correspondence tremendously. Pastor Manuel always inspired hope and positivity. I am forever deeply grateful to Pastor Manuel for the gift of friendship he gave to my father during the last year of his life in palliative care. Pastor Manuel visited my father faithfully and frequently. Those visits were greatly anticipated and cherished by my father. Pastor Manuel became a close friend and confidant. Both shared the tales of their extensive travels and interesting life journeys.
Our deepest heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Judy and family.
Love Sylvia and Arnaldo Jimenez ❤️

Dear Judy, Pamela, Anthony & family
Pastor Donoso was a highly-contagious Christian, whose love for the Lord was obvious. I always looked forward to hearing his many stories of answered prayers……including his conversation with God at a car wash about his desire to go to Chile, or the empty furnace which kept heating the house anyway.
May each of you sense God’s loving arms around you, as we eagerly await the greatest family reunion of all time on resurrection morning. Until then “every sleeping saint will be kept in safety and will be guarded as a precious jewel, who is known to God by name.” (That I May Know Him, p 362).
Sending hugs and prayers,

Pastor Manuel was indeed a risk taker. I recall his constant support of Christian education and the Ottawa Adventist School in particular. He faithfully supported and engaged as a member of the School Board and encouraged his church to do likewise. I recall when we desperately needed a photocopier how he visited a local company and convinced them to donate one to the school.
He fought a good fight and finished the course.
See you in the morning Pastor Manuel!

Dear Judy, Pam, Anthony and family:
Pastor Donoso will be so missed! We will remember him as a man of courage, a man of faith, and a man of prayer.
He demonstrated great courage and faith in battling his illness. I recall a sermon he gave at the Kanata church shortly before the pandemic. The topic of his illness came up. He stated very confidently, that if it was his time to go, he was ready! There was no doubt that he was.
He was a man of many stories. I remember sitting around the table at Pam and Ken’s after a Sabbath dinner, listening to him telling stories of trips back home to Chile. He was always looking for ways to share his faith wherever he went.
He was a man of many answered prayers. Some of our favourite parts of his sermons were his personal stories. He would often tell of the amazing ways that God heard his prayers and answered them. It was inspiring.
He was a man who loved his wife. He called me one time to see how I was doing, and part of our conversation involved how lucky we are to have the spouses we do. I remember him saying how good Judy was to him and that “what you see is what you get”. He felt very blessed to have Judy for his wife.
He was a man who loved his children. I remember at a church get-together he asked us to pray for Pam because she was a new mother at the time, with all the responsibilities that motherhood can bring.
He was a man who liked my cookies. I remember being at a Sabbath dinner at Pam and Ken’s, and I brought chocolate snowballs for dessert. I saw Pastor Donoso in the kitchen after dinner, probably when he thought no one was looking, and he was sneaking another one. It made me grin. I knew he liked them.
I am reminded of the title of his book “A Risk Taker’s Journey From Trials to Triumph”. He’s been through the trials. Thanks to God, the triumph comes next.
Our sincerest condolences,
Lana and Stephen Legge

Dear Sister Judy and family;
As the pastor's family, I want to say thank you for sharing such a tender and compassionate man with us. Growing up as a child in the church, we always looked up to the pastor, and I'm forever grateful that humble man was Pastor Donoso. Not only did his love for Jesus touch the Nepean church as a whole, but your support for his leadership as well as your heart in children's ministry and Sabbath School, are recorded in heaven's books. We are all awaiting the words: "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord" (Matthew 25:23).
Much love and many prayers,

Pastor Manuel Donoso was undoubtedly a man of God, who became for us in the Kobuta family, a friend closer than a brother.
He was more than a Tutor for our daughter Andrea (she herself proudly and honorably referred to him as: "my canadian Father").
We became a family and we will always carry with us the best memories of the amazing moments we spent together in Canada and Brazil, when on several occasions we lost even the notion of time sharing funny moments, experiences, prayers and the advices of Pastor Manuel, our Brother.
We realized the wisdom and joy always present on his face!
Today we await the moment when we will repeat these experiences in eternity alongside him and all the dear ones of the Donoso family.
Our eternal gratitude to Pastor Manuel, Judy, Pamella and Anthony and their beautiful families for allowing us to be part of this great family.
Receive our eternal gratitude, prayers and love in your hearts!
Andreitta, Tania, Josef (and little Cora)

Pastor Donoso was very friendly. I will never forget his big smile and how his face would light up and it must have made many people feel welcome to talk to him. He told us one time that he had an opportunity to talk with people I think while waiting for treatments. I believe he must have been looking for people to share witness of God's love and their opportunity to be saved by God. He knew his purpose for God in this world and he was faithful in living out God's purpose through his life. Pastor Donoso had the ability to console. And one time I shared that I was worried about my parents and he encouraged me that God knew their hearts. He was generous with his kindness and love. I will not forget his warmth and encouraging spirit. He enriched my life with his wisdom and kindness.

My dear friend, Judy! My heart-felt condolences for the loss of Manuel to you and your immediate family: Pam, Ken, Noah, Elliott, Anthony, Julie, Judah and Stella. May Manuel's memory always bring forth gratitude and great blessings for the treasured years that you all had with him.
I feel the loss, also.
As a friend of both you and Manuel for nearly forty years, what amazing testimonials he shared, what laughter and tears,, what faith-filled prayers he offered, what compassion and boldness of faith he brought to play in the difficult and painful circumstance of the moment. He was truly an ambassador of our Sovereign God!. And what a marvel it was to witness this servant of the Lord -to whom English was a second language - write and publish a book, "A Risk Taker's Journey", to give glory and thanks to his God. Only Heaven will tell how many lives that God used this book to impact for eternity.
I give sincere thanks and praise to God for his life, for it truly enriched mine!

It’s so hard to know what to say at a time like this—In fact there are no words that do justice—but I will try anyway.
I’ve thought a lot about Manuel over the past few days and reread what he said when I interviewed him.
His message was simple and clear. It was about hope, faith and serving others. And bravery. He wasn’t afraid of the future. He truly lived this way and we are all better for having him in our lives.
He was a generous man and a role model for many. He will be missed.
Lots of love, Terry, Chely and Dave
