David Gilmour

Obituary of David Ray Gilmour

Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

David Gilmour passed peacefully at his home in Odessa on the morning of Saturday, March 4th, 2023. "Thank you" feels inadequate when thinking back on everything you've done for us.

He was the man that taught us how to fish, how to ride a 4-wheeler, how to shoot a gun, how to respect and love the outdoors, how to wrench on cars & trucks. How to be a good Dad/Grandpa. You were our rock. Ever there, solid, predictable.

Born October 11th, 1954 to Nellie and Ira Gilmour in Kingston and brought home to 81 Carruthers Ave, but a good deal of time would be spent at the cottage on Loughborough Lake, as well as the deer camp near Griffith. He enjoyed a 35+ year career working for Canada Post in Kingston, and eventually holding the role of Local President for the union. David is predeceased by his parents, brother Bob, and son Allen. Lovingly remembered by daughter Melissa, son Matthew (Sarah), ex-wife and friend Susan Hannah, grandchildren Owen, Carter, Emma, Dahlia, Abby, Clare, William, and Athena, sister-in-law Heather, brother-in-law and hunting companion Steve (Linda), niece Sarah (Jon), grandniece Alice. Also remembered by the stray kids that he adopted along the way – Joe, Cas, Todd, Amber, Ange, Sherry, Candy, Myka, Derrick, and Garry.

A big thank you to his many nurses and caregivers, especially the grandkids that helped over the last few months. As per his wishes, there will be no service before cremation. Details about a celebration of life will be posted to his Facebook page.
