We were introduced to Brian and Margaret when our sons Edward and Chris became friends at Amherstview PS. We have maintained our friendship for almost 40 years. We will remember Brian for his caring - always calling us on birthdays and anniversaries, his work for the Seniors Outreach Services and the Country Disabilities Committee, his infectious laugh and hand clapping, our stimulating political discussions, and our garage lunches of pizza during Covid. We will miss you Brian - you have enriched our lives.

Dear Shenton Family,
My deepest condolences to the Shenton family. I worked with Brian at JVK until his retirement. I will always l remember, if something went a different direction, I would wait for him to say, “Oh Crikey” and then we could move on to solve this issue. I still use that word today.

Dear Margaret, Edward, Jacintha & Families
We are sending our deepest sympathy to you all. Brian was a wonderful person! I will cherish the music box he made for me and the memories of our many chats over the years I knew him from a salesperson In the horticultural industry to a customer of our farm business. I enjoyed our weekly visits with he and Margaret during veggie season and receiving his phone calls and messages throughout the year. His laugh and energy made me smile. May you be comforted to know he will be remembered fondly in the hearts of many!

My condolences to the entire family. I have many fond memories hanging out with Jacintha and family in both Amherstview and Camden East. What stands out the most to me was Mr Shenton’s love for the oldies. For over 30 years every time I hear “Chantilly Lace” I can see Mr. Shenton dancing and singing to it.
Thinking of you all!

Thinking of everyone during this very difficult time and so sorry for your loss. Through my close friendship with Jacintha, I was lucky to spend time with Brian and Margaret. His cheerfulness and positivity was always unfailing. When we were 17, I was invited along for a family trip to tour Brockville and Ottawa to see the beautiful tulips Brian’s company handled sales for. I now work in Brockville, and every spring when the Tulips come up around the fountain on Court House Ave, I think of that trip. I also remember Brian as a caring and generous dad who was incredibly proud of his family. And of course I’ll never forget his voice and laugh.
Love to you all

Whilst I didn't know Brian, Margaret has kindly kept me informed of life in Canada since my mum's passing, Kathleen Wilson (nee Shenton). What I can say is that I remember uncle Bertie and aunty Florence fondly from the times before they left Jersey. Please accept condolences and sympathy from myself, Simon, my brothers, Chris and Tim, as well as our respective families here in Jersey

We have known Brian and Margaret for quite a few years. We first met at meetings of the Kingston Hard of hearing club, a branch of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association. We were to attend many club meetings together over several years. Brian did not serve on the Board but offered to wait patiently at the main entrance each month to greet whichever guest speaker we had lined up.
He helped in many other ways as well.
As the years went by, we became acquainted with each other’s families. It was a casual but warm friendship, I would say.
In recent years, Brian would invite his guy friends, including Brock, to go out for lunch. Fish and chips was a favourite dish for Brian. Brock says that they had interesting conversations ranging from sports to politics and more, and Brian enjoyed those occasions a lot.
When required, Brock helped with transportation, helping ease the burden of getting to hospital appointments in less than ideal circumstances........finding a parking spot and pushing a wheelchair was tiring for Margaret, albeit done with love.
All through these years we have appreciated Brian in many ways. He was always smartly turned out and on time for events. He took an interest in everyone. I would guess that he could talk to anyone, anywhere! I (Mary)certainly enjoyed our chats.
He loved music and once in a while I would join him in a spontaneous chorus of some popular song! I think “Oklahoma” might have been one of them.
As we witnessed his health issues and treatments, we came to admire very much Margaret’s hard work and devotion. Both Brian and Margaret were well organized and made every effort to get to all medical appointments. It was tiring for them both, I’m sure.
We will remember Brian as a good friend, a devoted family man, and a dignified person who did not seek the limelight but was always willing to be involved when needed.
We will remember the good times and the laughter. Rest In Peace, Brian.
Mary and Brock Cooper.
